Right, proper shimming is just one of those things that goes a LONG ways in airsoft. Figure out if the grinding noise is from the teeth rubbing or the sides of the gears rubbing. If the gears are rubbing on each other on the sides (not the teeth) you need to raise or lower one of those gears.
I'll do my best tomorrow when I have more shims. its bed time for now, thanks for all the help
anyone heard anything about or bought this sight before? http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/ea-kobra-military-ak-red-dot-sight-ekp-1s-03.html Should I go for it or is it not worth it
It's got slight ghosting issues and poor metal. I'd go for it if you want the look, I'll be getting one eventually
Anyone have experience with the HFC Darkhawk?
It's got slight ghosting issues and poor metal. yeah, from what I hear about that sght, it's made of really bad metals and plastic, and actually has really bad ghosting issues when set on the higher brightness settings

I might buy one. Hey Ender, my buddy, about how much would it cost to have a small part for a Tanaka revolver (about the size of a dime) machined out of steel?
Ender, about how much would it cost to have a small part for a Tanaka revolver (about the size of a dime) machined out of steel?
I think that's one of those things where you either need to be friends with someone who can do it for you, or need to pay out of the ass.
Hey Ender, my buddy, about how much would it cost to have a small part for a Tanaka revolver (about the size of a dime) machined out of steel?
Going to depend on the complexity of the part, and type of steel.
Going to depend on the complexity of the part, and type of steel.
Could you give me a range? http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/tmal444/CIMG1116.jpg It's similar to this.
Going to depend on the complexity of the part, and type of steel.
Whatever it is, I want it made of a titanium alloy just like NASA space shuttles. [editline]31st January 2012[/editline] Also it must have Shimano gears, which are the best.
Could you give me a range? http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/tmal444/CIMG1116.jpg It's similar to this.
Not as easy of a part the more I look at it. If the outer diameter was consistent then it could probably be done with manual machining (lathe then mill). But since it doesn't you're looking at CNC milling, and that shit is going to cost you over $100 easily. Honestly you're better off searching for a replacement part. Even if you wanted a replacement machined you're going to need to make an accurate 3D CAD model of it before any machine shop will make it. Otherwise you'll be paying another guy to draw it up for you. If you do have a 3D model, you can upload it here and get a quote. It's gonna be pricey though. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-titanium-rods/=g1ux1h Tooling on the other hand might cost more, not sure what tools you would use to machine it. It's something I would have to look up since I don't machine titanium. My guess would be carbide tooling would do it, but I could be wrong.
I don't think it'd be worth it to do it in ti. maybe something like 303 or 304 stainless.
Well fuck. Looks like my Tanaka is going to be a display piece until I win the lottery. Edit: unless I can use the real steel part (if available)
300 or 400 series SS would work fine for this part. I know I have shitloads of it at work.
maybe you could find out if the real part fits?
maybe you could find out if the real part fits?
Part 33 on here might be able to fit after being cut down. http://www.coltparts.com/pt_policepositivespl.html
Which Tanaka revolver do you have?
Colt Police Positive. The ratchet is attached to the back of the cylinder with the mock shells, and cannot be removed on its own. I'l have to either cut out the worn ratchet or jury-rig a replacement end for the cylinder with the new ratchet attached.
Well my friend, I think you're shit outta luck unless you wanna JB weld a new ratchet on over the borked one.
Yeah, I suppose so. It was worth a try. If I could find a circular piece of metal with similar dimensions to the cylinder backplate I could drill a whole in the center and fit a modified RS ratchet, then weld the ratchet in. However, I don't have the time or the money for that now.

be careful mixing real steel parts and airsoft
Oh god I remember that thread
For the time and money required for something like that, you might as well just buy a brand-new pistol.
I would if I could find another Tanaka revolver with similar specs for sale.
