But it becomes really fucking advanced and overcomplicated.
Bullpup is a great idea for sniper rifles such at the Dragunov SVU or Barrett M95/M99, but standard rifles, shotguns and SMGs get too complicated.
Bullpups are not much diffrent mechanicly, its not exactly an advanced concept seeings how bullpups have been around for a long time and have served Armies greatly (FAMAS, AUG, Tavor).
So what if the trigger design is diffrent, modern countries can adjust for it. Plus out of all the problems I have ever heard with bullpups, triggers aren't really high in the list.
Complicated trigger groups? Make new trigger have a pole back to the original trigger. Problem solved, no difficult complicated fuzz and it's a-okay ('cept that bullpups for some reason have horrendous triggers from what I've heard (only fiddled with an AUG once, and it was the worst trigger ever))
There are only three things that kill the bullpup design (that I can think of)
1. The triggers are usually stagy and are very heavy.
2. Many bullpups throw shells out near the shooters face, so many don't like it.
3. All bullpups mechanics are under the shooters cheek which many don't like as it's basically an explosion within inches of their heads.
Besides those three issues bullpups are no harder to design or maintain. That is why some armies like, Britain, and Israel use them. What I'm saying is the Bullpup v. Traditional debate is very much like the AK V. AR or Glock v. 1911 debates. It all comes down to personal preference.

They actually do this for AK's. Russia was going to use them but they never got past prototypes. You can though convert your ak to a bullpup with kits that are sold.

Yeah except unlike the the latter two debates Bullpups have extremely easily provable advantages over traditional designs.

She certainly is sexy. Only complaint though, Those handguards are way to close to the barrel for comfort, in my opinion
That is why they have the lip at the front, to keep the hand from slipping and crossing the barrel.
You people and your bullpup talk.

Newly acquired M38! Does anybody know what kind of stock it has and why it has this awesome tiger stripe pattern in the wood?
That pattern is the pattern of the wood the stock is made of. If I were to guess (I'm no nugget expert) I'd say someone has remade the entire stock in Nugget style, but in some superduper expensive wood.
Also, on the topic of nuggets and bullpups:

:downs:
Well if you ask me it does have a nice finish (despite looking like it has been stored in blender that has been continously running since the 1970's)
That feel when you see a FG-42 semi-auto replica on a catalog but it costs 10'000 euros.
I think I'll rob a bank or two.
It's just hardwood, the finish is just shellac. :v:
Woops should have been more specific, I realize it's shellac on hardwood, but I just thought it was unusual because this is a 1943 Izhevsk, the stock is an M44 stock because it has the bayonet groove, and I can't find any Finn marks on it anywhere. Are these kind of stocks uncommon on Russian Mosins?
This is apparently fixed by removing a duplicate string in the trigger assembly :v:

The AUG trigger, that is. Quote didn't work for some reason.

I would fucking tap that so hard, I would give historical value a huge "fuck you" if they were fun/good guns.
Got a plano hard case(plastic), winchester copper plated hollowpoints and a three piece rod set.

I wouldn't mind the SKS but a bullpup bolt-action is just weird.
Any way to tell if my Mosin went through the war? At least get a possibility?
Any way to tell if my Mosin went through the war? At least get a possibility?
Doubt the Russians kept records about production dates or things like that.
But I think it's fair to safe most any Mosin has shot at a fascist, communist or capitalist at least once in it's life.
Turns out we've had a Moist Nugget in the house for 4 years.
It was a "Birthday" present for my sister, but she never really cared about it, and it's been collecting dust in the old safe downstairs for years.
Da fuck dad, I told you I wished we had one.

Damn, I wish Australia is regularly like this. Just going "oh wait, we do have a gun" is a rare occurence. Someone I know (not naming people here) found a nice semi-auto .22 in his mates grandfathers shed, doesn't happen very often. I've met quite a few shooters in Australia whop all seem to know someone who has something illegal
Okay, do you reccomend some liquid for cleaning the bore, and how do I clean all of the inner workings (trigger stuff, ect)?
Winchester 190, now happily residing in her very own case, not behind some clothes in a closet.
If it's a nugget, juss piss down the barrel. Just use a funnel and piss through the chamber opening.
Take a swab of wool and just push it against the parts to get the grunk and fouling off.
Hint for everybody reading this seriously: Don't listen to this crazy goddamn Norwegian.
You should actually take some draino to it to get the cosmoline off.
[editline]oh no[/editline]
No, don't do that either. Just get proper gun oil. :c
To get cosmoline off, you can just toss it in the oven, actually. It's possible to put the parts (including wood parts) into boiling water, but that requires you to manually wipe water off every part afterwards.
Set the oven at ~75 C and leave the parts in for about 20 minutes. Works wonder.
And yes, I'm serious. It works.
[editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
If you're putting wood in, set it at 50, rather than 75, though. 10 minutes instead of 20.
Or, you know, use gun oil.
Too bad gun oil doesn't magically remove the 0.5 cubic litre of cosmoline you usually get in surplus nuggets and SKSs.
It did for me. Hoppes 9 is the shit.
Hoppes' #9 seems unavailable or just impossible to find in Norway :(
eBay? Amazon? Just buy the shit online. Honestly, any solvent will take off cosmoline.
Hoppe's #9 is like liquid magic. I swear by it for all my gun cleaning needs.

Yeah, it's amazing. I wish they sold it in bulk.
