At sporting good stores near me they have like 1 gallon bottles of it.

Wow, I'll have to look for that...
so get hoppe's #9 for cleaning the bore and how to clean the action and stuff?

Hoppes 9 does it all man.
To get cosmoline off, you can just toss it in the stove, actually. It's possible to put the parts (including wood parts) into boiling water as well, but that requires you to manually wipe water off every part afterwards.
Set the oven at ~75 C and leave the parts in for about 20 minutes. Works wonder.
And yes, I'm serious. It works.
[editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
If you're putting wood in, set it at 50, rather than 75, though. 10 minutes instead of 20.
[editline]25th December 2011[/editline]
Everyone seems to be against you on this one you insane Norwegian. But I'll back you, as I have infact backed cosmoline off in an oven and in a black trash bag in a car in the summer. You can also get cosmoline off if you shoot a fuckton of ammo at a steady pace.

I do also adore Hoppe's product, they could clean the shit off a colon.
But for the action and mechanical crud, do I just put some solvent in a tub and dump the parts in there?
But for the action and mechanical crud, do I just put some solvent in a tub and dump the parts in there?
Yes. Patches soaked in Hoppes will clean anything. Barrel, action, whatever.
So don't take the gun apart and dump everything into a bin of hoppe's overnight, instead wipe it with patches? ok.

Yes, use patches.
Holy SHIT my Dad just gave me a Mosin Nagant.
Pics soon, but it's in absolutely incredible condition. You guys have awesome timing when it comes to the cleaning tips.

We know.
Wow, disassembly and reassembly was quite easy. I love how the magazine and trigger guard are held in place by two bolts :v:

Welcome to the nugget owner club.

Yes welcome. Our motto is, "Why use a gun when you can shoot a club."

I got a Glock 17 Gen4 today.
I own Mosin Nagant, the gun is easy to take care off, however the one i bought ages ago isn't accurate. The sights are all out of alinement.
Then zero it in!
Hoppe's #9 is like liquid magic. I swear by it for all my gun cleaning needs.
I soaked a rusted-up seized engine in the stuff one day just to see what would happen
The engine's currently in my weedwacker and starts on the first pull, amazing shit

Seriously, I'm thinking of having my future son baptized in the stuff

Man, sounds like you guys swear on that stuff. Know of any big American chain stores that might sell it, like Big-5 or Dicks?

EVERYONE HERE (as in America) SELLS HOPPE'S #9.
WALMART sells it. Most any sporting goods store would, I'd think.
Anyone shoot the SCAR-L 5.56? I did at a gunfair, and I gotta admit, that thing is very comfortable to fire. The polymer is well fitting to my cheek, and of course since it's 5.56, the recoil is controllable. Wish we had those, instead of M4s and M16s.

Ye gods, that poor bubba'd AK.
It's only got a quad rail. I've seen far worse.
That P6 makes me miss mine a bit, though...
Now I find out grandma had a .270 (or .276 depending on who I ask) that might become mine! What's a .270/.276 for?

Do people just refer guns to as a <caliber> nowadays?
Sounds like the people that would write "7.62 rifle" instead of the name and type of the rifle (you know, interesting info as FULL AUTO, BATTLE RIFLE, etc.).
[editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
Best part is that some of them got approved.
I am sorry, I don't even know anything about it. I just heard about grandma having a rifle chambered in .270 (my uncle) or .276 (my dad).
Found this on /k/'s archives. Probably late, but the watermark surprised me.

You made me proud, boys.
Darksamus/foos did it.
That subforum is no tacticlol AK, some tactical AK's are acceptable, but pure AK is best to them.
I still remember when that was first posted, some guy was complaining about how AKs couldn't compete with AR platform weapons since they didn't have rails or something like that.
Probably made by the circlejerking whiners in the airsoft section.
"AK HAS PLASTIC MAGAZINE I MUST CRY"
Coming from the guy who complains about almost everything not related to Mosin Nagants.

Yes, we know.
