Still, I'd attach stuff to an AK using duct tape rather than mounting a rail. It'd be more natural and fitting.
Also, I don't see why people just can't get side mounted optics/rails.
Because everybody likes their own individual things.
If you like wobbly stuff mounted directly on the gun, sure. I mean, who doesn't like zeroing optics?
BUT HOW CAN I FIT MY $30 LEAPERS SCOPE WITHOUT QUAD RAIL

Relevant to the thread's current topic, I guess.

Cya!
Back on topic... what gun do I get next?
>Tikka T3, Super Varmint OR Tactical - .308win

Something not very expensive. The Mosin is not turning out to be an easy rifle to convert to a sniper. I have my home defense handguns, assault rifle, target rifle but now I need a scoped long range rifle.

All of those are about 1000-3000 NOK here in Norway
about 170-500 bucks for a sturdy rifle that'll last you 100 years
So 30-06 or .308 (which is what 7.62x51 NATO is called here). I'll check em out. Most come with scopes?
at least we don't argue about $500 plastic and aluminium toys that shoot plastic balls, eh?
Post is extra funny because you own a deactivated gun which is even more useless than an airsoft gun.
For most of us real guns have the exact same purpose as airsoft guns (recreation) so you throw that attitude right out the god damn window.
Collecting militaria and deactivated guns =/= running around in the woods pretending to be a SEAL OPS special soldier
playing airsoft =/= running around in the woods pretending to be a SEAL OPS special soldier
unless SEAL OPS guys run around in the woods with flamethrowers and M79s fragging humvees, in which case thats exactly what I do so count me in
.308 is not the same as 7,62x51(NATO). .308 winchester is a civilian round, 7,62 is military :v:
M59s and M67s usually have scope mounts, considering they were used for match shooting as well as scout roles in the military.
[editline]27th December 2011[/editline]
By the way.. all of those 4 are surplus rifles.
Mauser K98kF1 and F2 are norwegian converted K98ks, with new barrels and some new machining.
Kongsberg M59s and M67s are converted K98kF1/F2s, with new stocks, usually new barrels, diopter sights and most of the time scope mounts.

7.62x51 and .308Win are considered equivalent and safe to interchange much in the same was as .223/5.56. Hell, when I look at milsurp guns that have a civilian calibre equivalent to a military calibre, they're almost always listed in the civilian one (FAL/Galil in .308, AR-15/M16/SCAR/Tavor in .223).
Isn't 223. and other names some bullshit rename because of some gun laws that are about "sporting rifles" etc.
The wood AK VFG is shit ergonomics. It's called the donkey dick for a reason.

Maybe if you actually participated in the sport you would see what's so fun about it.
I was really tired this morning, and my dad and I went to the store to get some .45 Colt for this buffalo rifle we have. I put all all of them in the refrigerator when we got home. I don't know why.

Sounds to me... like you are in need of a good shotgun. Life is always better with a good shotgun. I'd suggest a modern double barrel something like what Stoeger makes.

Actually, I recall reading that the fridge is actually an excellent place to store ammunition.
As the best scope mount, Recknagel R6 is highly recommended, but if you're following Prusses advice for buying a rifle, you'll pay more for the scope mount than the rifle itself :v:

I plan on getting an imported Saiga M series. The side scope mount is already included.
Izhmash, fuck yeah.
For AK-types you are almost only limited to side mounts, due to the dust cover not being stabile enough to mount optics on.

You're saying it as if it were a bad thing. I love how sidemounts look, compared to rails and stuff.
Off to the gun shop today to see if I can't track down something of the SIG flavor.
After either a P220 in .45 or a P226 in whatever.
On the topic of AKs and rails.

Looks goddamn beautiful in my opinion.
Could've been better without the quad-rail thingy on the front.
IMO, triangular skele-stocks look actually pretty neat on AKs, as opposed to the usual tapco m4-wannabe garbage. But those grips, ugh.
