No drum mags:
"M27 gunners will be equipped with around 22 of the 30-round magazines already in use with the M16 and M4 Carbine. 22 magazines will approximate the prescribed individual combat load of a M249 SAW gunner, and although the M27 gunner is not expected to carry all 22 magazines, they are provided to the units so that a determination can be made at the unit level on what the individual combat load should look like."
In all honesty, if the GMPG gunner has to clear a house, you're doing it wrong. If they want to issue a lighter, more accurate support weapon to the troops, give them more Mk. 14 EBRs, nothing says stfu like well placed 7.62.
The gun doesn't have the volume of fire to nor the ammo capacity to be an effective support gun.
It was originally back in the 50's to be the "do everything" infantry weapon, but now it's been moved to a marksman's rifle. Don't forget that it only came with a 20 round mag.

I wasn't suggesting replacing the M249 with M14 EBRs, I just think they should issue more of them, like 1 per squad

I think it's stupid to replace an open-bolt LMG that's proven reliable instead of some another dumb M4 clone, and thus having to carry a lot of fuck-heavy magazines instead of a few pouches of belts.

(It's an H&K though so it's okay!)[/QThey are replacing the M249 because of weight. The M249 weighs almost 30 pounds unloaded. An assault rifle with a drum mag weighs less. The marine corp. just wants a lighter support weapon for the soldiers to carry when in the field or in a close quarters, urban environment.
It weights 8kgs, or about 15lbs

Twice that of an M16

I've lugged one round for 3 days as a cadet, it wasn't too bad and I'm an unfit fuck
Each section has a support weapon, there are two or four sections in a platoon, everybody in the sections carry's ammunition for the weapon.
Wow, all of this is so cool :O
I am pretty sure all the guys who call gun owners "rednecks" are just jealous.
I mean I would really like a gun, but I have no training at all (all I own is a POS airsoft that you need to reload each shot).
another problem is that I am 13. But hey, I can look at all these cool threads and play video games.
I went to my local surplus store and they were selling an A-10a seat for 100$.
I looked at it and the ejector seat wasn't deactivated.
Who dares me to launch it?

I'd dare you but you've been banned for a month.
I had a CZ 452 once, brilliant little gun, I regret selling it to my cousin.
Finally decided on getting a Mossy 500 Persuader with a 20" barrel. Its pretty nice, the action is a little stiff, or maybe I'm just not used to it yet. I cannot wait to shoot it.

Put a few rounds few it and see if it doesn't smooth itself out. Is it one of those 8-9 rounders? I've been insatiably curious about those...

Its the 8 rounder I believe. I just cycled 5 rounds through to see how it worked. I probably won't be able to shoot for a week or two sadface.

Probably some milsurp/millooking rifle, maybe a handgun if it's interesting enough. Already own a nagant so no crate o' nuggets.

There's two at a store here for $400 each :smug:
Which is funny, I was looking at them today and posted somewhere else asking why the "P38"s were so cheap. Didn't know they made postwar models.
They were both marked P38 so it's kind of deceiving. Of course I don't have definite proof that they're both P1s but if they're legit wartime P38s for $400 I need to get my shit down there RIGHT NOW.

Sure... Just try it, you won't get any bones broken from the force of it, or start a fire with the engines.
Anyone here have a PT92 or Beretta 92FS?
I need to know the firing pins length because I think mine is worn out.

Heres a picture on gunbroker, should give you a general idea of the length. Looks to be roughly 2.5 inches:

Thanks but that is no help what so ever.
If the pin has been worn away even .3mm's then it wont set off rounds. I just can't get an accurate measurement from those pictures.

Its striking the primers and not causing detonation? Have you removed it from the slide? I've seen pictures of broken ones and more often than not, your pin will be broken than worn out, especially if you dry fire.

The pin is in one piece and it is striking the primers just not far enough in.
yes i have removed it from the side.
The gun is around 20 years old and has gone through a few replacement parts but the pin is the original, it is probably worn out.
Ya know what's funny and hurts to see. An ad in a monthly gun publication that advertises a tactical katana. Yes, it was a tactical katana ad. I nearly burst out laughing at that,
Ever have lots of extra money but not nearly enough to get the one thing that you really want and end up too afraid to spend it knowing you still want that thing?
My car's A/C system like exploded yesterday, costing more than $700 to fix...have to sell the .22 1911 to help cover the bills :smith:

There'll be another 1911 in your future, hang in there

this is why you need to have a reserve fund of cash
Ouch. You could have lived without the A/C unless you live in the deep south or southwest.
