handgun in .22?
:l
Perfect for plinking or fun at the range. With ammo at $20-25 for 500 rounds, it would be a cheap fun gun.
I personally want my first handgun to shoot something larger than .22, hence why I'm looking at an old Tokarev. And buying military surplus ammo, the rounds only come out to $0.13/rnd. Ten cents more expensive than .22, but still pretty cheap IMO.
I just found a used-in-very-good-condition Mosin-Nagant 91/30 for $110 and some spam cans of 440 7.62x54r rounds for 80 bucks. Are those good deals?
I think he's looking for a .22 pistol, and as for .22 rifles, I'd definitely recommend the Remington 597, it's cheap, works well, supports a scope (if you want, some people think a scope on a .22 is useless) and it's semi-auto. Depending on where you look you can find them for $170.
Also, that nugget ammo is a great deal from my standpoint, 880 rounds of military surplus is somewhere around $300 up here, so you're getting half that for way cheaper. The gun sounds reasonably priced as well.

Also, the rifle I found is apparently sold out, but I also found one for 135 with all the accessories at a local gunshop. And to be honest, I'd much rather buy it through a gunshop than have to pay transfer fees and all that.

I feel like I'm being discriminated against by my family because of my love of guns. I'm not even a violent person, but I'm also the 'quiet one'. My mom even went to so far as to insinuate that I'm breaking open all the .22 ammo I bought and am making pipebombs out of the gunpowder.

Same here. People think that just because I like guns and know a lot about them that I'm Osama Bin Laden Jr. or something.
just got a makarov 9mm as a gift from my dad, it's fucking awesome.

Finger on trigger when you're not shooting. Who let you have a gun and didn't even teach you that?
NEVER HAVE YOUR FINGER ON THE TRIGGER UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO SHOOT. Jesus Christ.
Shitty trigger discipline, as everyone already said, and also you lucky fuck, I recently found out Makarovs are banned in Canada. Glad Tokarevs aren't.
Too many fun guns are banned in Canada, if they'd stop being so stupid and lower the barrel length restriction to 4in instead of 105mm there'd be so many more perfectly fine, and also many more historic (Luger P08 is banned) pistols we'd be able to get.

Also, how's this deal seem to everybody?

woah woah woah, I didn't know you guys felt so strongly about firearms safety for a picture. if it's any consolation, i did make the gun safe prior to taking the picture. didn't mean to get anyone riled up.
i'm aware of the proper handling techniques for both handguns and rifles, don't worry.
It's not about not doing it with a loaded gun, it's about never doing it.
yea I know how serious proper firearms safety is. once during training i accidentally aimed my handgun sideways instead of down range while putting the chamber lock in and my instructor got pretty pissed. people slip up though, but yea my bad.
i did make the gun safe prior to taking the picture.
By saying this you show how little you know. You can never make a gun 'safe'. You ALWAYS treat a gun as if the safety is off and it is fully loaded, no matter what.
I'm not trying to be a douche, but I'm saying this because when you're holding a firearm you can harm and/or kill yourself and/or others. Accidents like that just adds to the pile of reasons some people want guns banned.
yea, I understand, safety first. I've only owned one other gun in my life and attended like two instructional classes so I'm kind of new to firearms.

sorry, i thought i made it clear that i didn't know much about firearms but that I am interested in learning more about them. thank you for your reiteration though.
These are the people that get angsty if you leave your pen in the trigger guard for a photo...
Do any of you guys think that a De Lisle would be a good project gun? I think i have said this before but whatever.
i got that tingly feeling i get sometimes when i think about stuff like that...
Who makes those... they are really cool.

Best story ever.
Where do yall buy your ammo? I order from USAammo, but they lost my shipment at UPS. They said they will give me a free shipment as an apology.
Score, the Nugget at the local gun store is a 91/30. It's $135 but I don't have to order it online.
Any Canadians on here ever ordered from Marstar before, and if so, do you know what shipping costs are/could be for their bulk ammo?
There's an FN FAL for sale online at 500 € where they usually go for 1000-1200, but I still haven't my fucking permit.
I died a little inside.
The Liberals arbitrarily banned the FAL in 1995 up here, it's really gay, they arbitrarily banned so many guns that should be perfectly legal...
I can only hope if the Conservatives do anything some people like, they revoke a lot of the really dumb bans, raise the magazine limits for semi-auto rifles from 5 to at least 10 rounds, and I already know they're scrapping the long gun registry. I'm also hoping they abolish ATT (Authorization to Transport) requirements for restricteds and pistols, because then we'll be able to hunt with pistols, and not have to go through months of paperwork if we want to take our pistols to a friend's gun club for one day.
I had a friend who was once stupid enough to purchase a Chinese handgun for $50.
He went to the range, shot it once, and it just...well it just sort of exploded.
He doesn't buy Chinese anymore

Extra money is worth not having to deal with an in-betweener IMO
I heard some Norinco rifles were fine though, mostly the SKS.
But yeah, I generally don't trust Chinese weapons.

In my humble opinion, if you can't trust their childrens toys to be safe, how the fuck can we trust their firearms to be safe?
Think about it: the Chinese government doesn't enforce international safety regulations on food, toys, and practically everything they make. Why should they be any different about the guns they export?
Well, old Soviet bloc tech was sometimes half-assed, but an AKM could be used as a war club, makeshift ladder step, boat oar, tent pole, firewood AND still be able to shoot after that.
Then again, that was a military rifle, exported everywhere to arm comrades and not for business, but the civilian models are still pretty sturdy. Point is, if it's based on a military model, it's not going to die in a few days, unless it's notoriously shitty. Hello, albanian SKS.
The Mosin's bayonet is required to take down the rifle.
