I've heard good and bad things about NcStar. If you do end up getting it, let us know how it works for ya.
I've heard good and bad things about NcStar. If you do end up getting it, let us know how it works for ya.
Will do. Might get it next week. Keep an eye on the thread.
I have an NCStar red dot tube-style sight for airsoft, it's not too bad, but I don't know how it will work on an actual gun.

Then it should be good.

Will these work for an SKS?

Unless your firing slugs, there should be no need to have a red-dot sight on a shotgun.

Yes, they will. The SKS has grooves in the bolt for a stripper clip, and the 10 round clips make it easy to load the entire integral 10 round mag at once. If anything, I'd actually advertise those as SKS clips.

I knew it could take clips, I was just confused when it said AK clips.

Likewise, those look exactly like the clips I've used to load SKSes before, though, so it should work. The ammo I was using actually came in clips already, there tends to be a lot of Czech milsurp around me when I go shooting.
Alright, now for correct pricing. What's a good price range for SKSes? The ones I saw at Cabela's were like $250 for the Russian models, $225 for Yugos, and like $200 for the Chinese ones. There's a large gun stop a few blocks from that specific Cabela's, but I haven't been in it before.
Jesus that's expensive, I saw a Simonov SKS for sale for $130. I've heard for the classic ones $130-$170 is pretty decent, though I've seen them trying to sell the Chinese knockoffs up here for $250, and tacticlol ones for upwards of $400. Still, for any I wouldn't pay above $200, even for the Simonov ones.

The ones at the Cabela's are supposedly genuine ones from the 50's and 60's.

Damn, so they are more expensive in the States. I know people who got them direct from the importer for $130, and here's a couple places where they're cheaper than $250:
http://www.marstar.ca/gf-norinco/CHINESE-MILITARY-SKS.shtm (Chinese)
http://ellwoodepps.com/firearms_military_rifles_2.htm ($199, but I've seen one here for $130 once)

I find they've gone up in price recently upon this last check, last time I checked around $170 was the norm. Must have been a while since a shipment came in.
A couple photos...

Ah, I know why, they banned import of them around 92-93 in the states.

That's just the Chinese SKSes, the Norincos, because Bill Clinton, and I think that ban only lasts until 2012, I'm pretty sure you can still import Simonovs.
Also, why do you need to have the gun shipped to a dealer? In Canada, a gun can be shipped by Canada Post across the country to anyone with no paperwork required, so long as you bought it legally and don't open the package until you get home. If a bonded courier carried the package, it can be transported without need for authorization as long as it is packaged, because it's treated as a package, not a firearm. I've heard of Canada Post leaving rifles on people's doorstep before because they didn't need a signature. However, if you open it, it's then considered a firearm and you need proper authorization to transport it, depending on the type of firearm.
I've always wondered why we have so many import bans when our biggest problem is people sneaking weapons out of the country into, say Mexico.
