Finally, after 2 months, my FOID arrived. Sadly, I don't have any cash to buy a gun. [sp]Unless you want to donate to my PayPal.[/sp]
Those Romanian Akm's with the forward grips were fairly common 5 years ago were I came from. They were really nice, but most of the ones I had my hands on had the grips sawn off. I always wanted one for myself but they have mostly disappeared.
You can get 'em here or buy one on ebay like I did

The service to try to convert the regular Mosin into a sniper variant also costs quite a bit. Go for it [editline]12th September 2011[/editline] Anyone know a good website to purchase munitions for Mosins?
It's a normal price, nothing great about that price.
I mostly wanted to make sure it wasn't ridiculously expensive.
I mostly wanted to make sure it wasn't ridiculously expensive.
No, it's just not a great deal. It's pretty typical. Check classicarms.us for the good deals.

Some gun stores do it but they will add about $250 to the price to make up for all the crap they have to go through to get it legally imported. For something rarer it might be worth checking out but not for a repro PU. DaCommie1, If you need other options (in case shipping for tradeex is a bit much), try westrifle http://westrifle.com/online/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=9 Got mine from there.
Stay tuned for pics of my AK in the next couple hours...
Stay tuned for pics of my AK in the next couple hours...
Thank god you're not going to post about not having that damn thing anymore.
Now I'll post about not having my damn Mosin-Nagant. 6 more days.

West's cheapest is CP for $40, Tradeex is flat-rate $25 coast-to-coast. Also, http://www.shop.tradeexcanada.com/content/german-k98-military-mauser-42-code-8x57 What do they mean by a "42 Code" K98?

Doesn't look quite right without the wood...
Doesn't look quite right without the wood...
Everyone has an opinion.
I think I may actually like it better this way.
Yeah, I like it better with synthetic rather than wood. My friend has the same weapon, says it shoots like .223.
So I went to my ammo store to find out that they just ran out of 7.62x54Rs. I'm sad now.

That explains why you were so exited. Wow that is one sexy gun.
That explains why you were so exited. Wow that is one sexy gun.
Yes, yes it is. I can't stop holding it.
So I went to my ammo store to find out that they just ran out of 7.62x54Rs. I'm sad now.
Sucks.
Is there any online store that can sell them for a good price? And have good quality surplus?

www.5280armory.com Their site is shit to navigate through, but I was there on Saturday and saw several cans of 54R
Goddamn, shipping's a bitch. [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] Also, how much trust should I put into 40 year old soviet surplus? http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_info.php/cPath/24_101_126/products_id/4747

Damn faze, now you've got me all excited for my AK :( Hope to have it by next paycheck.
40 years ago, 1970s? They were at their height! Besides, the ammo is newer than the gun :v:
Yeah but I don't want the shit exploding in my face. Then again I'm shooting a 70 year old gun also, but munitions wise, would that be much of an issue? [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] Friend also advised me to wash the barrel with windex or something with ammonia in it whenever I fire corrosive-primed ammo.
