Currently trying to persuade my father into letting me get a Mosin Nagant, anything I can use to convince him?
He's not a big gun person, if that helps any.
Take him to the gun range, show that you are responsible with a gun. If that doesn't work then the puppy dog eyes might be your best bet.
Don't get a bloody lever action. *stamps foot*
Why not??
[editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
I plan on getting one at a later point in time because they're just really fun to shoot.
Whenever I shoot a lever action I pretend I am Michael Landon.

You are missing the point, of course they are a flawed design. But that doesn't mean they aren't fun.
Damn so negative...

At 50 yards that thing was dead on.
Unless you have a bad bolt action

No tubular magazine for this one, y'know, russian army liked this thing right here.
But yeah, I'm nitpicking.
• Tubular magazines for most lever actions
I said that nitpicking thing on the post above.
Also some interesting facts about Winchester 1895:
-Russians ordered 300 thousand of these
-Russian version accepted nugget stripper clips
-Loaded trough the top of the reciever
-Fewer than 4000 Winchesters survived the Civil War in Russia
It's an interesting concept.
One of my friend's friend had one of these and as mentioned, they are quite rare. Sako wanted to buy it just because it was somewhat well-known in Finland as a post-war hunting rifle. He traded it for a top-notch new Sako rifle.
Sako?
The company Sako?
WHY DIDN'T HE ASK FOR A TIKKA T3 TACTICAL
I'm pretty sure it was a Tikka.
I just bought a Czech Brno vz.24 Mauser. It was a GI bring back and there isn't any crest. I need some help getting some info on the rifle is anyone would be willing to help. I can post pictures in a wee bit.
I shot a Sig Sauer SG553 Carbine at the range yesterday, couldn't find a picture of it on google (except for an airsoft one) Though it was a very good gun, barely any recoil and 9mm power.

This is all I'd know about it, considering this is the only place I've heard of it before.

Good god...
I got to play with one of these at the range today.

How come most every gun Sig makes the slide always feels like butter? I was surprised how little recoil it had for a full size 1911.
It literally felt like I was shooting a p226.

.45 is usually a pretty smooth round to fire unless the gun weighs like half a pound or you're using hot loads. That, and like you said, Sig are practically handgun artists. I love Sig pistols.
This thread makes me want to buy a nice fullsized handgun. I probably could here in Greece since there are more guns than people. Problem is I wouldn't be able to get it back to the states when I move back.
Just do it the Greek way (pack your bum)
When you buy from ImpactGuns, what is the tax on it? Is it by state, or do they have their own system? The gun I'm looking at is a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle.
If you're not in their state, there should be no tax. Your receiving dealer may or may not charge a tax on it.

Yeah the .45 acp is so smooth, it is a low pressure round unlike the .40 s&w. The Springfield XD 45 has little recoil, but when you take a 1911 with a big old steel slide you can get a good amount of recoil. Like the Springfield Range officer full size has a good kick to it, I mean it isn't bad but the sig had no more recoil than the 9mm p226. It surprised me.

If you ever get a chance, try .45 ACP out of a revolver. My Dad got a Ruger Blackhawk this past Father's Day (the .45 ACP/LC model). I was half expecting a pretty hefty recoil from the Long Colt (first time I'd ever shot .45LC), but the barrel barely rose at all. Ditto on the ACP. It makes for an interesting comparison.

Yeah I shot a .45LC before but I imagine .45 acp is a quite a bit easier. Guns like that that are designed to shoot two different rounds are usually designed for the bigger of the two. The weight of the revolver has a heavy play into the lack of recoil with the .45 acp. Not only that there is no slide racking back. It is like shooting a .38 special out of a .357 it shoots like a .22...
So, my AK arrived.

I was concerned about this, I don't know if its rust or some sort of residue. Only slightly concerning if I spent $600 on a gun with rust on it.

And the rod that had the stuff on it had the same stuff on the outside, next to the fire selector.

Annd another picture of the rust/residue.
Now I just need some ammo and time so I can go out and shoot it :v
When I first got it and opened it up, there was a lot of grit and grime all over the internals, and nothing was oiled up. Which is a little concerning seeing that they test fired it without any lube of any sort. And I'm also wondering what the hell that residue is on the inside.
Overall, very happy with it. I just wish they gave me a surplus mag instead of this polymer one, its already starting to show signs of wear and I was also hoping for a scope rail so I could mount a PSO on it, but oh well.
Also, the gas tube lever is a bitch.
Yes, it has a parkerized finish. :v
Its the only weapon I have parkerized and I have to say I actually really like it. I think it might look better blued, but oh well.
What's wrong with parkerization?
What's wrong with parkerization?
Looks like pot-metal, that being said I've nothing against it.
What's wrong with parkerization?
What is parkerization?
Sorry if the firearms posted are not up to your standards. I like bluing, but parkerization has its place in the world of firearm finishes. Mostly it does not reflect light very well, which is great for soldiers who don't want to have their position given away by a shiny rifle.
Weapons should never be parkerized.. what's wrong with bluing or browning these days?
IF IT ISNT BLUED, WOODEN, OR MADE IN EASTERN EUROPE ITS A BAD GUN
