How common are completely synthetic furniture Mossberg 500s and how cheap are they usually? I want one with a 18.5" barrel with an extra 28"

They're common. You can find them pretty easily at a Big 5 or heck maybe even Wal Mart. They're very cheap, usually about $270-$300, sometimes lower.
I would've gotten one of those funnily enough, but after I handled one I decided against it. Felt too flimsy and cheap for my liking. Handle one and see what you think.

Mossberg 500, wouldn't mind getting one of these they look pretty nice.
Is that a 1911-style grip safety?
Wait you're not complaining on how the gun looks very non-sovjet-plastic-bulpup-tactical?
Fiddlesticks, 4chan blocked my ISP out of the fucking blue.
Guess it's no more postin' on /k/ for me. :suicide:

Forget I said this, many others seem to have the same problem.
DO me a favor, folks. Try posting something there and tell me what happens.
Yeah, saw that only later. Oh well, that's a relief.
In school the other day, we started discussing the P38, my teacher then said "You know the scene in Schindlers List where that jew is gonna get executed? I was one of the few people who weren't surprised when the gun didn't go off"
That gun is apparently jam-tastic :v:
A classmate borrowed one to use during a competition, he said it jammed on the first shot, every single time he was supposed to start :v:
I still like the guns design and overall looks, even moreso than the Luger.

When I was at the range on 9/11 last year, I saw a guy buy one of those out of the blue. It was sitting on the rack, he picked it up, looked it over, and walked over to the register. The thing is rather scary looking up close.

Welp, my dad seems to have come in possession of a 20mm casing from god knows when. It was obviously fired, and has a little bit of bending around the neck(?) of it. Markings on bottom read 20mm-mk.5,Mod.0 4-55 IS. Any body know what this was for?
Could you identify mine too?
20MM M6(or 5 or 9, scratched up)03A3(?)
RNO-21 49-75
I also bought a 25mm but I can't make out the markings.
So how much of a pain in the ass is it to get a scope on a Mosin M91/30?
depends
if you just want a rear sight-mount you just drive out the pins and leaf and put it in, then put a sight on top
if you want a PU sight you need to cut parts of the stock, get the receiver drilled and tapped in addition to getting a PU mount and scope that fits
The easiest solution.
rear sight mount
Can you suggest one? I tried looking, but I have no idea what to get.

"Some have noted that if the entire rear sight assembly is removed on a 91/30 Mosin Nagant, 3/8” male dovetail grooves are revealed, the same as on modern .22 rifles and airguns. This means you can purchase some cheap but still quality 1” rings for about $10 and mount a scope. However, you’ll have to work to get the sight assembly removed:
[There are] two pins holding the sight base on, and they usually have a dab of solder on the base to dovetail. Gentle heating with a small torch to melt the solder, then tap the base forward and it comes right off.
Besides not needing to drill/tap any holes in your rifle, another pro is that you can retain the straight bolt."

So yeah, you can either get a cheapo mount you install in the rear sight base, or simply push it off and put a set of generic dovetail mounts on the dovetail on the barrel.
Hm, good food for thought. Thanks. I mean what about those tri-mount rails? Looks crappy but it does the job.
I don't think they would keep zero that well, so if you get it I'd do bedding for it, even going so far as to put screws in the mount and adjust them so it's balanced against the barrel/receiver. Might be worth trying though, but the scope would probably be placed really really high unless you get a REAL low scope ring set.
Good point... I'll check out those links you posted. I don't have a lot of gunsmithing knowledge, so it has to be simple. Plus, I don't have the tools.
Yeah, I guess you wouldn't want to remove the whole rear sight base.
I'd say go with one that drops into the base, i.e. that tri-rail or one of those "normal" ones.
Eh, I gotta get the bent bolt too.
You don't need to with those rear sight base mounts, I think? You can just install the scope a tad more to the front if it interferes with the bolt.
But yeah, I'd def get a bent one anyways. It's easier to work, especially when a scope and mount is just in front of it.
True. Those run about $70 right?
Yup.
[editline]15th October 2011[/editline]
70$ is about as cheap as it gets. I've seen some go for 100$+++
What's so special about the 100 dollar ones?
Just depends on who makes them and what they sell them for, I guess. The 70$ ones are made by some guy that's apparently pretty famous on American gun boards for the quality of the bolt bodies :v:
Well as long as it doesn't break...lol

I'd cancel the order if possible.
UTG is crap. They make stuff for airsofters.
