Yeah 303 surplus is practically impossible to find these days.
But you can still find it in good amounts for a somewhat good price.

Personally I'd absolutely love to own a Lee Enfield. They're just wonderful rifles in general.
It didn't come 1400 rounds pre-loaded on 10-round clips from Czechoslovakia, each clip individually wrapped in plastic with a sticker from the Canadian Border Services Agency? Your brother, sir, has acquired inferior ammo.

Once the Canadian Rangers stop using the Lee-Enfield rifle, I hope for, and somewhat expect, surplus .303 to hit our markets. Aside from that, there's Chinese .308, 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, and 9mm surplus hitting Canada's markets, that and a lot of bulk packs of Winchester MFS ammo in a range of calibres.
Where the hell can you purchase pre-clipped ammunition?
This was some Czech stuff that came in, 7.62x39. The main importer is out of that stuff, only has Polish stuff now (not in clips), but it came pre-loaded on 10-round strippers, each in plastic wrap, with a sticker from the CBSA on the plastic. 1400 rounds of this were loaded in a wooden box.
Also, Enfields seem to be the second most common military surplus rifle around here. A lot of them are Ishapore refurbs and cost about $350. The ammo is expensive, though, but the guns are abundant. Hell, I know someone who'll have 2 of them in a few months, he's getting an untouched 1942 from Long Branch Arsenal, here in Canada. He already has one from I'm not sure where from 1945.

That is the best thing I have heard all day.

The only problem for you guys south of the border is that most companies don't ship south, and if they do there's a $400 fee, so that kind of poses a problem for you.
On the flip side, old US WWII guns cost more up here, a Garand costs a grand and an M1 Carbine costs ~$650. There was a Winchester 1917 for a couple hundred around a bit ago, but only one I've seen. American guns are actually surprisingly rare up here, mostly because the US has apparently banned exporting anything related to the US Armed Forces.

If I were you I wouldn't do it. Ishis are p. bad in general, plus it says it's in fair condition.
Also, about the surplus .303, most of the good stuff (British and Aussie) got used up long ago. If you find any left nowadays it's typically Indian or Pakistani which have a horrifying tendency to go "click.......bang" So you're really better off just paying the extra money for the new factory stuff.
They grade Milsurps pretty hard, usually. They probably had a whole shipment in and graded all the same. That, and I don't plan on it, what with them adding in the Ishy screw on all the refurbs.
It's funny that everyone is so adverse to the Ishy screw. It was actually a modification done by british marksmen dating back to before the first world war to give the stock a tighter fit on the action and barrel. The Indians picked up on it and began doing it to all their rifles, which I'm sure is why everyone considers it a bad thing considering the Ishys are p. bad.
Really the screw doesn't do anything.
Bit of Enfield trivia for you Canadian Firearms enthusiasts, a lot of the military Lee Enfield 303's imported to Canada came from the Irish Army. When they went out of service we sold them on the civil market to Canada apparently.

Too bad they're 10 round strippers. :frown:
you know what I mean.
Found a local store selling .303 in pouches of 12 stripper clips filled. Shame the bastards have bulging primers... interesting thing about my enfield is that it is an American made enfield for the Lend-Less Act just before we got into the war.

Is it an actual Enfield or an M1917?

Probably one of the Savage built No. 4s

Ridge, your carbine is damn sexy!
Thank you :D
Ridge, for some reason you remind me of those redneck Coloradoans that have lots of guns. I know like 30 people that have at least 4-5 guns

:D
But I couldn't deal with living out in the wilderness. I'd be dead within a week. I'm an urban redneck.
Urban redneck? What a contradictory statement :v: But seriously though, it kinda sucks that there aren't many places to shoot here unless you go to a range
[editline]19th November 2011[/editline]
Makes me wish I lived in the mountains
If I hadn't just dropped a ton of cash on a membership at an indoor range, I'd probably check out Aurora Gun Club.

I know the feeling. Only places around here are indoor pistol ranges(only rifle place is an hour and a half drive)., and 2 outdoor ranges. One is a Fraternal Order of Police range that i occasionally go to with my old AFJROTC instructor, and the other is pretty much members only (a day pass is like $50 if you arent a member). Ive heard of another, but apparently the range masters are douchebags and you have to watch a safety video from the 70s.
Probably one of the Savage built No. 4s
Hit the nail on the head.

Indoor ranges are stupidly expensive for monthlies, and the fact that when you rent their guns they only want you to use the ammunition they sell (at a ridiculously marked-up price, of course) just makes things worse.
That aside, check out my local range: http://www.scottsdalegunclub.com/
I've never seen a fancier gun club in my LIFE. It seems a bit like overkill.
Lucky, this is mine: http://www.aplacetoshoot.net/
It literally looks like someone just went to their local hardware store and made it.

I'll trade you
Shot my Nugget for the first time yesterday, went through 40 rounds.

Well I can understand their want to have you use their ammo when you use their guns. What would keep the average idiot from reloading their own stupidly overpowered rounds and blowing up the range's gun otherwise?
I think I spent around $160 for an annual membership.
OH GOD WHY ARE MAJOR ANTI-GUN LOBBYISTS HERE SO IGNORANT? This idiot from Quebec, who went to speak out in favour of the registry, DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGISTRY AND LICENSING. He goes and says that abolishing the registry will mean stores don't have to make sure the people they're selling to are legally allowed to acquire firearms, YES IT FUCKING DOES BECAUSE WE'RE NOT GETTING RID OF THE LICENSING. People will still need a fucking license to buy a gun, but these fuckwits don't seem to fucking GET IT.
Here's the 2-hour long session in parliament about the debate over the registry.
