The only thing I don't like about the 870 is my thumb keeps getting caught on that guard where you load the mag, the one on a spring, it keeps snapping shut on my thumb. It's a minor irritation, but still an irritation. You can see it in Ridge's pic, right underneath the first 2-4 shells from the barrel.
That's called the lifter. It lifts the shells from the magazine into the chamber.
That's called the lifter. It lifts the shells from the magazine into the chamber.
Shit, I didn't know that. Still annoying getting my thumb caught on it, and I could swear the Mossy 500 doesn't have one, or at least, not in the same place. I've never held one, but from pictures it looks like there's nothing there.

$400 seems about right for a used one (possibly well used). New ones go for ~$600-$700 iirc
$400 seems about right for a used one (possibly well used). New ones go for ~$600-$700 iirc
MSRP on an SLR-107 is $950 http://www.arsenalinc.com/usa/home.php?cat=10 Which is more than I can say I'd pay for an AK that isn't either full auto or direct from Izmshshsh
It feels like prices have spiked for AK's of all flavor in the past few years... I mean they're almost in AR price territory.

Don't get me wrong, the 870 is a sexy beast of a weapon. It just doesn't feel right to me.
Alright, next gun I purchase will be a 10/22. Now should I get classic smexy wood or super tacticool?
Alright, next gun I purchase will be a 10/22. Now should I get classic smexy wood or super tacticool?
I'd go for a classy wood stock. Can always buy an archangel kit for it later if you want to be tacticlol.
Well, gas tubes are not universal. The gas tube I ordered for my Zastava PAP just got here, and it's like a half inch too short. FML... Let's hope K-var.com takes returns, otherwise, I am out 50 bucks.
What did I tell you?
Um...don't remember?
And about ten other posts about how AK specs differ from variant to variant and manufacturer to manufacturer.
So I pretty much have to cut off the handguard since it won't twist off? I can't find a "Zastava PAP gas tube."
What the fuck? Why do you need to cut it off? Why do you even need to replace it?
Quad rail. Goes over the barrel and gas tube.
Oh yeah, the pot metal one?
Sure.
Try cutting off your barrel.
Try cutting off your barrel.
Oh, I'll get right on that. brb /sarcasm
It's a bubba grade zastava, if I were him I'd use the barrel as a stirring spoon
Dude, keep the shit talking elsewhere. I was asking for help. I'll go to the gun forum I frequent, nevermind this shit talking fiesta.
He's asked for help a couple of times, All of them he's told us we were wrong then got pissed.
He's asked for help a couple of times, All of them he's told us we were wrong then got pissed.
It isn't going to melt like you said it was going to, I know lots of people who have this same rail on their AK. I'm not firing full auto through a whole case of ammo. It's not going to melt. I was asking which fucking gas tube will fit. If you don't know, don't answer. Just don't talk shit.
It isn't going to melt like you said it was going to, I know lots of people who have this same rail on their AK. I'm not firing full auto through a whole case of ammo.
I told you it wouldn't fit the first time.
And I'm pretty sure all of us told you to ask a gunsmith or a board specializing in AKs/guns, because they'd know better than 10 of Facepunch's few thousand users. So my store got the guns and some of the ammo in earlier today/this week. None of them are on display yet, they're still doing all the paperwork for registration, thank God that'll be gone soon. Going to a gun show on the 4th, hoping to find a good deal on what I'm looking for, or at least the ammo for it. I've heard people at the shows up here charge too much for the guns, but give good deals on ammo.
It's a bubba grade zastava, if I were him I'd use the barrel as a stirring spoon
Wow the greatest advice.
so my deac nugget is on the way now just a few days until HEAVY LAMINATE STOCK '43 NUGGET DRY FIRING ACTION
Why would you by a deactivated rifle.
A deac nugget at that, are they illegal in Norway or someshit?
A deac nugget at that, are they illegal in Norway or someshit?
Nope, perfectly legal in every way.
Tomorrow, for Black Friday, Big 5 is having a sale on all Mosin Nagants, $105 straight for a single. That'll save me a deal of money considering +$20 for shipping and +$20 for an FFL on the usual $80 or so.
You can usually get an M44 at Gander Mtn for less than $100 before tax. I just ordered an AR pistol kit. The 10.5" upper will be nice to SBR later :D
M44 for under $100? Not in Illinois. My 91/30 was $155, and an M39 sniper variant with original scope was $1250 or something.
Trying to help a facepuncher identify their percussion possibly once flintlock, and I need help with some gun terms. 1. What would you call the letter stamped on the bottom of the grip? 2. What would you call the mark identifying the maker on the side?
