The mechanism is fully operational spare for the plugged chamber and cut firing pin.
[editline]28th November 2011[/editline]
So yes, you can reload, dryfire, decock and disassemble the whole thing.
Unplug the chamber and put in a new firing pin :v:
It's a steel bolt that has another bolt through it, then welded.
Pre-1990 deactivations feature only a chamber blocked with lead (!).
well, if its pre 1990, shoot out the lead /suicide.
It doesn't have the 45 degree cut on the bolt?
I guess you're lucky then :v:
So, I'm not regretting buying an AK-74 yet. But God damn are quality magazines hard to find. My shitty polymer TAPCO mag I got with it already has visible wear on it, and here is the kicker... Its never been shot! Just by inserting the magazine, and taking it out a few dozen times has caused lots of visible wear.
Would really like to get my hands on some surplus Bulgy mags, but it seems like they've all dried up.
Here you go. A 4 pack for $60

And here's some E. German ones for $25/each

Where can I get a cheap 10-pack of Nugget clips?

Oh my God thank you so much. Last time I checked they were sold out. This is going to be a great Christmas!
And CardFan, I got mine from Amazon. They worked beautifully.
Actually, just checked Atlantic and they're still sold out. Ffff Oh well
Those ones that Felix posted for amazon are the ones I got. They work great. Never had a problem with them, feeding or otherwise. Except some of them had rust or some shit on them, it didn't bother me though.

The ones on Cheaperthandirt are better, but backordered

I say just take strips of aluminum and bend them in place around the rounds.
Would you guys say this: http://www.spikestactical.com/new/z/spider-bullet-lower-w-standard-kit-m4-stock-p-589.html is good for part of a first AR?
Don't get an AR
Get the following:
two long nuggets
one short nugget
one semi nugget
one revolving nugget
four spam cams of big bullet
one spam can of small bullet
What?
What's wrong with an AR? Are you that much of a Mosin fanatic? They're not that great.

SVT-40? SKS?

Spikes makes good guns. But with the deals right now, I'd go for this:
http://palmettostatearmory.com/9007.php
And a carry handle:
http://palmettostatearmory.com/1935.php
And you'll have a good gun ready to rock and roll for under $700 before FFL fees.
Buy a gun for what you need, don't buy a nugget just because all the internet 1st Sargeant Chairforce OPERATORS are telling you to do it.
My real purpose behind getting an AR is that in CA legal and range-usable ammo for any larger rifle caliber (7.62, .30-'06, .308) is around 1$ per round, when .223 is around 50 cents a round. And I really wouldn't like to get a full AR at once, I would much rather try to part out since it's my first time buying a complete universal lower and upper.
What is a nice handgun? I would prefer it to be mag fed, not a revolver or something (YET), and in .45ACP or .40S&W, but 9mm is ok I guess.

What's your budget?

I'd go with 9mm unless you have experience with handguns so you can develop good form with a lower recoil round.
Ive heard great things about Sigs and Glocks. Each will have their fanboys but as an outside observer Sigs look better with their external safeties and whatnot.

Sigs are awesome, and not just for handguns.
My price range is like $500 or $600. I'm probably not going to get it until after Christmas.

Yeah, get a Sig.

226? 229? 220?
226? 229? 220?
226.
Just keep in mind ammo prices. Check out sgammo.com or aimsurplus.com for ammo prices.
All I can say is that you should get the gun that feels best for you. If you're dropping 5-600 on a handgun, it better fit in your hand. Go out to a range and try a bunch of handguns. M&P, Glock, Sig, ect. When you find one that fits really well in your hand, then go from there.

Yeah any place you can rent before buying is a good place to go.
Sig handguns are generally just great all around. I was actually considering trading one of my current guns in for a 226. We'll have to see though.
Wow, so in watching some videos on Youtube, I've learned that a lot more can go wrong with a Nagant than I thought.

Never really saw what was so special about them, besides the fact that they're cheap. I'd take a Mauser or Enfield over one any day.
