a good news article finally.
Bought it, not a huge fan but they're much better than x-factor stuff. Also, Cowell annoys me. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2009/dec/11/rage-against-machine-christmas-no1 Apparently RATM will also donate some royalties to campaigns to encourage youth music, and to the homeless charity SHELTER. Cowell will never do that.
Cowell has already put out a single to raise money for a childrens hospital that deals with severe diseases like cancer.
Cowell has already put out a single to raise money for a childrens hospital that deals with severe diseases like cancer.
What I mean is why doesn't he do that with the biggest singles he promotes? Only tailor made ones that shout out the fact they're charitable- but yeah, bad turn of phrase on my part.
I find it funny, how things on the internet, this cyber-world, can drastically affect the world we actually live in. Some people decided to buy a decade old song, instead of Christmas music, and now it's competing for the top UK music charts. I love it. The internet, truly can be, serious business.
I wasn't going to buy it for starters, but you guys convinced me (plus the fact that I love RATM) Just bought it.
I really think this could be a great demonstration of internet democracy... and a neat rejection of those irritating karaoke shows.

We're still no.1, but by a much smaller margin. We need absolutely every sale we can get. I'm currently messaging random mooks on my facebook chat, it seems to be working well. We also have the support of PAUL MOTHERFUCKING MCCARTNEY http://digg.com/d31DD57 We also just raised 50k for charity!
Stop saying we you nerds. As if you did anything.
Stop saying we you nerds. As if you did anything.
I'm really grateful to you for bumping this thread again and again It will surely help us win rofl
I know, ironic, isn't it? The funny thing is I sort of like the song, just not the band or it's cunt fanbase. Go figure.
I know, ironic, isn't it?
The funny thing is, irony is everywhere on this campaign. The ultimate irony is that irony doesn't seem to matter here. Irony doesn't even look like a word anymore.
I don't get why there is even a fight for the number one spot. We've already heard The climb before and it was sung so much better as well. Not to mention killing in the name sounds so much better.
Subjectivity is great isn't it?
I've often thought it would be easier if everybody just had the same opinions.
I don't even like killing in the name, but I'd buy it just to piss off those corporate shitheads.
I've often thought it would be easier if everybody just had the same opinions.
We have that. It's called pop-culture.
I don't even like killing in the name, but I'd buy it just to piss off those corporate shitheads.
The "corporate shitheads" are laughing about the whole thing because Sony owns the rights to BOTH songs.
The "corporate shitheads" are laughing about the whole thing because Sony owns the rights to BOTH songs.
We've discussed this before, nobody actually cares :v:
We've discussed this before, nobody actually cares :v:
I support the event and all, it's just funny and ironic when people think that by participating they are fighting "the man".
I support the event and all, it's just funny and ironic when people think that by participating they are fighting "the man".
It's more understandable when you think of "the man" as Simon Cowell, because he's not going to get money off these downloads (contrary to popular opinion, buying a PS3 will not net Simon Cowell money). But if you support it, why don't you download it? 29p off amazon. Also, Simon Cowell has become very desperate indeed. I only did it cos the song is pretty good, and would be awesome to hear it on the radio as opposed to other christmas songs ROW ROW FIGHT TEH POWAH

Besides I already own the album.
Well I'm from the US I don't believe my purchase would make an impact on the campaign. Besides I already own the album.
Oh. Fair enough then, there's really nothing anyone outside the UK can do to help.
u cant understand rage so why by this stupd crap!!! [sp]Buying the single when I can[/sp]
You have until midnight on Saturday. God speed, brother.
Joe is far better than Rage. Ihave listened to both and I would have Joe any day. You can't understand Rage so why pay for crap like that. When you buy music you should be able to understand what is being sung about. With Joe you can understand every word. Good for Joe, I will buy his record, I would never buy Rage that's crap.
u cant understand rage so why by this stupd crap!!! [sp]Buying the single when I can[/sp]
Can you guys pick some music that isn't for angsty pre-teens? I can't stand this drivel.
Buy it, never listen to it again. It's like 30p.
Can you guys pick some music that isn't for angsty pre-teens? I can't stand this drivel.
Read the thread, it was already number 2.
