joe's singles was released physically today, its a nice effort but killing in the name of is probably gonna get smashed by physical copy sales.
Well, his CD's been out for a day and a bit now, and RATM are still on top.
Unbelievably, I think they might just do this.
When does this race officially end?
I like this song. I support this move.

The 19th I think.
Also, around £42,400 have been donated to the homeless so far :D

1. I have no problems with X Factor getting number 1.
2. I have no problem with Simon Cowell getting money, buying RATM won't stop him from getting any money anyway.
3. The chances of RATM winning are slim, the viewing figures of the X Factor are immense.
4. I don't give a shit what gets number 1.
That is why I am not buying Killing in the name.

1 and 4 I have no control over, but 3 and 2 I would disagree with.
We're still No.1 by 37,000 sales today, even after Joe's CD has been released in stores. Seriously.
It's the difference between Simon Cowell being filthy rich and having another generic covered song at the top of the charts, and Simon Cowell being slightly more filthy rich and having a totally unorthodox song at the top of the charts.

So long as you don't consider yourself a fan of music then I have no issues with what you say.

37,000 isn't a large margin. The CD has been released for such a short amount of time and ratm is probably reaching saturation point in sales now, whereas Joe's CD has only just begun to sell.
Furthermore, people who were going to buy Joe's CD all along will buy Joe's CD now anyway. The only difference which could possibly be made is to slightly irritate simon cowell, as the sales of Joe's CD will be relatively unaffected.
So long as you don't consider yourself a fan of music then I have no issues with what you say.
I don't really like the X Factor music, I don't really like RATM, either way something I don't like will end up as number 1. The majority of the population buys the X Factor music every year, which means that the majority of people who legitimately get their music prefer it.
If by "a fan of music" like most self proclaimed "fans of music" you mean "like music which the majority doesn't like" then I think I could be called a fan of music.
The point is that I don't care what music hits number 1.
The charts don't accurately represent music taste of the majority anyway due to the amount of piracy, if people really gave a shit about what happened in the charts they would pay for their music, which it looks like is just a one off thing this christmas to make a point.
Buying RATM is a waste of time unless you actually want the song.

You don't care, fine. Some people does.

Man.
I was only vaguely aware of RATM until I bought the song. I'm not really into that kind of music, but I found out that I enjoyed it when I bought it.
It's 29p off amazon. 29p. Twenty nine pennies of your hard-earned to break the status quo.
It would take two seconds.
You'd earn my eternal gratitude.
The BBC has apologised after Radio 5 live listeners heard Rage Against the Machine swearing in a live performance of their song Killing In The Name.
Zack de la Rocha, the US band's singer, was heard swearing four times on the station's breakfast show.
The band are hoping the 1992 hit will beat X Factor winner Joe McElderry to this year's Christmas number one.
A BBC spokesman said: "We had spoken to the band repeatedly beforehand and they had agreed not to swear."
He added: "When they did, we faded the band out and said sorry immediately.
"We apologise again to anyone who was offended."
The band were interviewed in a live link-up with the US on Thursday morning, before performing the song.
As the song was abruptly faded out during the controversial closing bars of the song, listeners heard presenter Shelagh Fogarty say, "get rid of it".
She added: "Sorry. We needed to get rid of that because that suddenly turned in to something we were not expecting.
"Well, we were expecting it and asked them not to do it and they did it anyway - so buy Joe's record."
Rage Against The Machine's 90s hit is in the running for the Christmas number one after a group was set up on website Facebook urging people to buy it.
The group was set up in protest at the dominance of the X Factor winners' singles in the Christmas charts in recent years.
De la Rocha said the current success of the song "says something about the real tensions that people are experiencing all over the UK and the United States as well".
Guitarist Tom Morello said the internet campaign "tapped into the silent majority of the people in the UK who are tired of being spoon-fed one schmaltzy ballad after another".
"We are honoured they've chosen our song to be the rebel anthem to try to topple the X Factor monopoly."
Some of the "windfall of proceeds" from the single would be going to British homeless charity Shelter, he said.
On Thursday afternoon, bookmakers Ladbrokes made Joe McElderry 1/4 favourite to get the number one slot on Sunday night.
It followed Ladbrokes move to make Rage Against The Machine favourites for the first time on Wednesday.
Spokesman Nick Weinberg said the number of bets taken for Rage Against The Machine had "taken us completely by surprise".
McElderry, 18, won the X Factor on Sunday night beating Olly Murs with almost two-thirds of the votes.
Was going to make a thread for this but I feel it has a better place here, you know just for fun and shenanigans.
Does buying the song on itunes count towards it? It's the only way I can buy it.

Should'nt that be 'Simon finds out Killing in the name of is number one?' ;)
You'll all regret this when you hit puberty.
You'll all regret this when you hit puberty.
Stephen Fry, Bill Bailey, Imogen Heap, Sir Terry Wogan and Alan Titchmarsh are all backing this.
I'm not totally sure, but I think they've all hit puberty.
You can go die. Or preferably, get a sense of fun, you empty shell of a person.
Stephen Fry is backing this?

Aye its only a few pence to download it, win win.
Or just sit back and be smug if this dosn't go to number one.
It will make number 2, you know for a fact that cunt will sell a ridiculous amount of CDs, RATM's succession was on the download charts only, now he's released the CD his sales will rocket.
If they'd have chosen a different song, not rock, something more mainstream that everyone would actually buy to listen to then they might have had more chance on beating him. If I were to chose a song, I'd have put Oasis - Wonderwall against Joe's song, that might have actually pipped it because I've never met anyone who doesn't know/like it.

Yes but the difference between RATM and Oasis is that RATM are actually good.

True, maybe next year if this goes tits for toes we'll can have a battle to get something more radio friendly to number one.
My vote is for Steve Brookstein...

The difference between Oasis and RATM is about 24 millions record sales.
In Oasis' favour.
i bought this single on amazon.
i already had it from 5 years ago but who cares i just dont want to see xfactor win
Is Killing in the Name still top?
As far I'm aware its still leading but only by about 30,000 sales.
I made my contribution!
Ok, what the fuck
