FOOTBALL!!!
Proud to be from the U.S. :911:
....Home of the free, and the land of the braaaavee :911:
(or something like that, I'm to lazy to google it.)
Español de pura cepa :spain:
And yep, the "Football" with the rounded ball is simply called Football here (Fútbol / Balompié), and the one with the lemon-shaped ball is called "American Football" or "Rugby".
It's kind of normal to see people from one region or another calling simply football the variation they know most (Rugby in USA, Soccer in Europe), nothing wrong with that.
I hate it when people stereotype Americans. We aren't all just gun-toting rednecks. I mean there's 310 million of us. :smith:

How can a country created by Europeans suck so much?
[sp]Just kidding, or am I?[/sp]
[sp]I'm just messing with you now, or am I?[/sp]
[sp]Yes, I am just messing with you.[/sp]

Why is it called football? I mean the american sort. If I'm not wrong, they're not allowerd to kick the ball in any other circumstances except when there's a kick off or whatever they call it.

I've never heard that in my years of playing the sport.
Gridiron/American Football is derivative of Rugby Football, which is derivative of Association Football/Soccer. So...somewhere along the line, what could have been called "American Rugby" got changed to "American Football" so I don't even know what's going on :v:
Where I'm from, we don't see Rugby and Football as the same thing, so we usually never compare them or anything.
