- I've yet to see Americans playing Half-Life 2 Deathmatch anymore, which isn't really a problem in itself, but it's kind of disorienting not being able to talk to anyone.
Did your mother teach you to not talk to non-Americans? :v: Anyhow, I haven't had much experience with good communities, but here's a list of horrendeously bad ones: #1 (yes it's so bad it deserves a number) The Touhou community - Why play a game when you can ERP about it all day long and take it extremely seriously and then become depressed and then kill yourself? (happens more often than you think!) TF2 community - hurr durr hats LoL community - "How dare you even exist, I will report you for this" (DotA community probably isn't any better but I have no experience with it) Killing Floor community - UGH STOP TAKING THIS ~SERIOUS~ GAME NOT SERIOUSLY YOU PLEBIANS Any community with a forum that isn't Facepunch - I find the lack of banned people quite disturbing
I've actually met a lot of cool people throughout my time in both GMOD and TF2. Maybe I've just been lucky with the communities I've found, but I feel like there's more good to be found in these two than people are willing to give credit for.
porn websites, everyone is positive and helpful where possible.
I quite like FFXIV community, and the fact that the game rewards you for playing with new players so more experienced players are generally happy to be helpful. Worst community imo is WoW. I'd say it's far worse than DOTA's.
DayZ was pretty fine until all the asshole streamers fucked it up. Any game where you can build: Shit, full of kids and aspies that whine over your ship/castle being actually built for war and not just to make pretty screenshots or roleplay a pink haired nymphomaniac space lesbian on it. Any game with talking animals: Shit, full of furries. Any multiplayer shooter: If it's not hackers it's children who whine over what gun you use Strategy games: Generally awesome people HellMOO: The terrible in the community and the rampant griefing was what made that game good Space Station 13: If it is not some creepy vore RP server or Pink Haired Space Lesbians Serious RP no killing only memes and anime allowed, it's terrible admins or some aspie manchilds personal sandbox building server.
League of Legends, is probably the worst. Red Orchestra 2 has a really good community. Mostly I think it's because it's not all that popular a game and the amount of people under 18 is almost nil. The only time you'll get shit is when you first join and take the important roles with the "good guns" and wreck the game for everyone else. Steam sale times being the worst for influxes of complete numptys trying to tell you how to play something you've clocked 300+ hours in -.- But if you play your role, focus on the game and getting better everyone will be accommodating, friendly and helpful.
Best: Doom Project Zomboid Cities Skylines Worst: Payday 2 CS:GO GMod Minecraft DayZ TF2
the top 5 big for me in easily the most worst playerbases would be 1.League of legends Report you for anything including criticism and never their own fault because they think its Deathmatch. 2. call of duty lets be real this was kinda obvious 3. Sonic the hedgehog .......i don't think i need to answer this 4. CounterStrike russians everywhere with dicks 5. Minecraft Children everywhere and multiplayer is near impossible to play without friends and your own server otherwise you are gonna need to deal with bukkit and PVP Or mini games
Best: Re-Volt community (or whatever is left of it) Getamped2 community Lost Saga community (when the game was still owned by ogplanet) Worst: Everything related to Sonic its even worse when someone like Gamespot or IGN rates Sonic Unleashed bad when it was the game that stopped the franchise from a nice death. What a shame. Rumble Fighter community holy hell there's no cure for the toxins there.
porn websites, everyone is positive and helpful where possible.
As a frequent peruser of pornography-related subreddits, I can definitely confirm this.
porn websites, everyone is positive and helpful where possible.
Odd, I knew those websites were always full of dicks ... Sorry, I couldn't resist
Wings 2 had the best playerbase I've ever seen, even though it was fiercely competitive. There were only about 30 active online players when I played it though, most of them from Finland.
Best TF2 (Pre F2P) CSS any server that wasn't De or Cs (mg,Zm/Ze,) Jedi Academy Worst TF2 (Post F2P) Gmod-Do I even need a reason? COD (Post MW) By Default
L4D Community is pretty bad (Especially L4D2's community)
Bringing up old ass Everquest again for one of the best. Everyone was chill, and people passing by always gave you buffs or helped you out if you were getting your ass kicked. Splatoon I like for the amusing miiverse posts. I agree on WoW being one of the worst, which is a shame because it wasn't always like that.
Splatoon is the best, I'd say. FNAF is the worst.
Worst for me DayZ (In and out of game) - The community forums are full of elitists who think they are untouchable because they were there since day 1. I don't really enjoy the game anyway, but the community was far from welcoming and thrives on RDM/Spawn killing and justify it as "part of the experience". Want to ask how something works? Your a dick. Want to know how to set up the mod? Your a dick. Want to ... GarrrysMod - specifically DarkRP servers. So many angry people in these servers who literally shout rape threats down the mic and pretend to be "muggers", prop block and shout things like "im trolling you hard". (Plus, nobody build anymore, its all about the RDM :() Shockingly, some of the worst people i found for this gamemode were server admins. I get it, they pay for the server but some of them really do go power mad and give preference to friends. I do agree with you about TTT though, could be an interesting gamemode if it wasn't for people RDM'ing all the time. PayDay 2 : My first ever game, I was matched with 3 level 90+ people who all "wanted to stealth". I told them I had no idea what was going on and instead of kicking me, some random guys took me through the level on full stealth, telling me little tips and helping where I could. On the flipside of this, I joined some games where people are either just "card-hunting" and rage-quit after 30 seconds of gameplay, or kick you right at the end of a mission so you don't gain any experience.
Worst: Payday 2 CS:GO GMod Minecraft DayZ TF2
I can only agree on CS:GO. Not sure about DayZ but I made a lot of friends over Gmod, TF2 and Payday.
Best: Anarchy Online, specifically the Omni-Tek and Neutral factions. As long as you type legibly you can get an answer to most in game questions. If you happen to be new to the game, some people will, without you asking for it, hook you up with gear and money to get you started. Assuming you weren't just spamming chat with begging of course. Can't really say much for the Joint-Clans faction as the little of Clan chat I have seen on my neutral character seems to show that literal children plan Clan. Or the people that do at least talk like children. Worst: I guess APB Reloaded. Kill/Arrest someone, you apparently are hacking. Run someone down with your car, Hacking. Standing around in the social district, Hacking. Log into the freakin' game, Hacking. ANY Open PvP game released now a days. People whine about how they got killed "for no reason" or how their stuff got stolen and they want it back. How it was an "unfair" kill because it didn't follow some asinine rule set that the victim has that you were somehow supposed to know. And then they expect you to happily stand there while they kill and rob you, fighting back means you cheated somehow.
Worst: Space Station 13 has the most toxic fucking community I have ever seen and I love it. Best: I've been playing console ESO and the community isn't too bad. Tera was pretty welcoming as well, especially for the server I played on (open PVP)
World of Tanks has a horrible community :v:
Yeah, but WOT is a horrible game, so it's expected honestly.
Yeah, but WOT is a horrible game, so it's expected honestly.
Last I played WOT they had zero teamwork, very individual based. If people acted like a team in that game then the massive grind to earn tanks and upgrades would probably be more bearable
Best: Arma series SWAT series Mount and Blade: Warband Probably anything that has a serious community or gameplay effort to encourage teamwork. Undecided: CS:GO Once you get out of Silver or Nova hell and end up against other Eagles or Badges most of the matches I've played people try their best to co-operate, even if they themselves aren't good they still dedicate the time and energy to actually trying and not purposely trolling. I haven't encountered many hackers yet either. From people minging their own team, to the bickering of ones claiming they should be Double AK, even to the hackers that do show up here and there, it's most definitely not the worst fanbase. Worst: Grand Theft Auto V Hackers in almost every session, people will almost always try to kill you without reason and prevent you from having any fun (but thank the developers for passive mode) Team Fortress 2 Friendly 'hoovys', cringy servers, communities, fanbase, sprays, you name it. The only side of Team Fortress 2 that I can handle dealing with is the competitive side, though I find pubbing still very fun despite what I've said previously. League of Legends It's your fault in everything no matter what you do.
L4D2 Versus: If you don't know every map exploit, where to set cool plays up with infected and when prepare to get verbally assaulted while watching your vote kick. Never met a nice person there and actually have had people yell at me before I can even start playing. One time I joined a game and before my client finished loading I was spawning as Charger. I finally load in to a guy yelling, "What the fuck you idiot Charger get them!" Get consistently vote kicked for not knowing what to do and when.
Best: Insurgency has a relatively serious userbase, not so serious that they'll chew you out for dying or making a mistake, but committed enough that people will help if you're new or unfamiliar. This is also one of the very few games where I would bring a mic, as it's easy to build up a level of camaraderie even with randoms. The lack of real shitheads is due to how easily you can die, there is very little room for egos when cocky rambo tactics get shut down immediately. Worst: this is probably because I'm still new to it and playing with other new players, but every (casual) match of cs:go I've played has had a bunch of very poor but also very angry players, all being stomped by a few trash-talking jerks. I'm told competitive is better after a certain point but I'm hesitant to even try if I have to slog through many matches with angry nerds and stompers.

(Just had both so..) This goes 100x for casual it's a nightmare.
-Warhammer universe(for the most part, there are some real dildos out there on tabletop)
Depends really. I've met some super terrible players in my time. Most of them run super cheesey lists and then complain if anything goes bad for them.
Most team based videogames (Natural selection 2 for example) have nice communities. Also small indie game communities (nuclear throne, broforce, etc) are really friendly. As for worst, there's a lot of them, MOBAs can have both shit and nice people, and most fpss have bad communities. Tf2 has a handful of really nice people, but then there's the fucking kids that go friendly on normal servers and the idiots spamming ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) in chat.
The best in my opinion have to be single player games like Sleeping Dogs, Mass Effect and the Witcher, simply because you don't play with them you're just talking about a game you both love. But if we're talking multiplayer I've got to go with Smash 4, I mean that community has so much fun, so much love and telepathically create inside jokes simultaneously with every other Smash player and said jokes only increase their love for the game. Worst goes to CSGO and GTAV, I could explain it but basically: you assume everyone's a dick until they prove they're actually nice not the other way around, like in Smash.
i nominate tf2 for best and worst at the same time there's cancer but there's also people singing along when you sing space oddity so why not
