A couple things about this:
1: Not funny, dude, so this isn't the right thread. Also, kinda gross.
2: That's a weta bug, and it looks like it's a variety that can't piece human skin with its mandibles. The goo on the hand isn't blood from the looks of it, it's actually some sort of brown juice excreted from the bug's mouth as a defense mechanism. It's not as bad as it seems, this isn't a bug ripping some person's hand up. It's just pinching, and spitting nasty goo out as it does so. Still, pretty gross for the "giant bug" factor.

You're right. He should be holding the blade so that he can use the hilt to attack his foes.

He's talking about the double sided blade in the top right. The way he's holding it now would leave a nice cut (if it were a real blade) on his arm. If you hold it like that you should have the flat part facing down.
