The guy in the gif IS a Maresciallo, a high rank carabiniere, and are the only ones allowed to carry concealed. In Italy the Carabinieri, the Vigili, the Finance Guard and Police all open carry.

Nope, that's a carabiniere. A slightly enhanced breed of the standard italian pig. The officer happened to be in that pharmacy while buying medicinals, and yes I think he actually was off duty. Anywho, the investigation was led afterwards by state police and not the carabinieri, hence the watermark saying "state police".

I wanted to make a joke about how I have more freedom than my former colonist since I last read Hong Kong is ranked #3, but apparently my version is the 'economic freedom index' and yours is the 'press freedom index'
