What I don't understand about this censorship of anime is that there are plenty of cartoons (and other media entertainment) from the US/West that aren't censored in the US at all, but still contain graphic imagery or violence. Just look at superhero cartoons, superhero comics (someone's always getting their asses bloodied and beaten in those), and family cartoons like The Simpsons contain plenty of violence, imagery depicting firearms, other weapons, and cartoony gore.
