It's real
It's a .22 revolver. You can plainly see the bullets are real because
1) There is no primer (.22 is rimfire)
2) The bottom is flat and the cartridge is rimmed (just like .22)
It clicked because either
A) Dumbass got extremely lucky and the firing pin hit air or
B) Dumbass used a spent casing and nothing would have happened anyway

No, its the previously posted Co2 airsoft gun, I own the same model. If you look closely you can see the hole in the back of the shell for the CO2 to pass through from the tank in the grip.
There was no bb loaded, and no Co2 in the grip, so he was in absolutely no danger and doing it purely for shock value.
In short, an idiot taking advantage of the ignorant for fun.
