To clear this up. It would NOT derail the train but it doesn not allow the train to go over it. It is simply impossible.
The train is too heavy and would just push it away. IF the train can go over it, it WILL derail, but more likely it will cut them appart and/or drag them along.
Also to the picture itself, it was taken in Belgium, not in Finland and the firecrew did that only as a joke not because they didn't understood the concept behind those.

If train tracks are between the burning house and the fire hydrant, the hose goes UNDER the tracks.
It's something you can do really fast, just push some of the rocks away and fiddle the hose through it.

Except for I didnt know it wasnt in Belgium (I took it from the Only in Belgium page).
Ofcourse I knew it wasnt a credible source, but I didnt know anything about the pic itself.

it's not the fact that they can afford it, but it's the time and effort put into having to get it repaired/repainted/fixed/etc. it's such an inconvenience to have to take your vehicle in and have it worked on, even if it's for a simple task of repainting
