Games cost more in Australia because you have a higher standard of living.
In Russia games are dirt cheap because everyone's poor.
No, games cost more in Australia because the video game industry is dead set on fucking them over.
The standard of living in France isn't that much different from the US yet we pay our console games 70 euros (85 USD) while the US gets em at 50 to 60.
10k a month seems like an outrageous amount of money monthly, even if that's gross wage that's still like 6-7k (im not 100% familiar with us income tax) a month which is a ridiculous sum if you know average working wage is like 2kish especially considering this doesn't even factor in future revenue from selling the game
edit: i did a quick google and calculations and living wages in sf for one adult and one child is 4.6k, with income tax for the highest backet (40%) this mean he would only have to pay his employes 6.8k a month meaning tim schafer isn't very good at handling money
Not only they had bloated salaries, a huge portion of the money was also used to pay the unnecessary celebrity voice cast.

the idea with digital games being fucking high price is just because in general australians are usually ok with spending whatever they need to, its kind of a "i dont give a fuck" attitude for most physical goods
the problem with digital goods is its partly due to the "i dont give a fuck" and the move from physical to digital, so when it made the change the prices were the same, we kept paying for it and it pretty much got set in stone
there is literally no proper reason to make us pay more outside of currency conversion, the idea that "you earn more so you have to pay more" only makes sense when you are buying locally sourced goods where labour costs are higher due to our pay rate, but for shit made outside of our country? fuck off with that shit
Isn't it just a tax problem?

I don't know shit about IGN but I refuse to believe that this "meme" of every game reviewing website being bribed for reviews is true. If it is, the connotations of the word "gamer" have truly gone to shit.
That, and the Mountain Dew and Doritos thing.
I just woke up from a dream where I was looking up something on google maps and spotted a loss comic on some guy's roof and then I posted it here.
Wtf you guys this is your fault.

It's not straight up money, it's more like stuff like alienware laptops/desktops, all expenses paid trips to five star hotels while reviewing the game, smartphones, hell one place(name escapes me right now) even got offered prostitutes.
And don't get me started on youtube people, they often get offered contracts where they get the game, some dosh, and they can't say anything negative about the game.

It stems from a Gamespot employee being fired for slamming a game that was being advertised all over the site. Pretty sure it was Kanye & Lynch 1.

To be honest, if I was a gaming journalist, I would have a very hard time resisting those perks. It's part of the reason why I admire ethical gaming journalists.
