I googled what "gifv" stands for and it isn't even a filetype. This is purely something that imgur is doing.[B] Basically gifv is a link to page with flash / javascript that loads mp4 or webm.[/B] This is so[B] dumb[/B], why not simply let people upload mp4 and webm then? So basically when you upload gif to imgur, they process gif by converting to both webm and mp4 and then making a page called ".gifv" that loads one of the video depending on the browser you use. This is defeating the whole point of letting browsers handle the audio/video/whatever with html5. Why? I don't think they kept it for Aliens since their dome is completely opaque, and it's completely gone in 3 and Resurrection. It was more of a very subtle design decision than an actual impacting detail, honestly.
