The idea with product placement is that various companies pay them to have their products featured in whatever media the product placement is occurring in, IE make the main character use their product (such as drinking a Coke), have some logos up on computer screens, set scenes in specific stores/offices/stations, etc.

It doesn't exactly make sense to me (Electricity isn't something you choose to buy from a specific company) but it's something that gets advertised none the less.
