its a hot pan placed on a plastic that is used to cut up meat/fruits etc.
hot iron melts plastic, it ruined both the cutting plastic and the pan. you get the idea.

This is not that hard if you have the right Bash script. The worst part would be waiting the shitloads of hours that you'd have to wait to first unpackage the game data and wait for the script to finish replacing all the .vtfs.
I did this once and posted a screenshot of Team Fortress 2 where everything was solid gold in the TF2 subforum.
I don't remember where I left it, so I'll recreate it using whatever someone wants me to replace every single texture and/or sound with v:v:v
