The whole movement that's happening in the community with ASMR performers and consumers trying to get rid of the idea that ASMR can be sexual is stupid - sexualising something doesn't make it impure or dirty. Sex is a perfectly normal and natural thing.
I think the issue comes when people get the idea that ASMR is solely a sexual thing, which it's not. Most people just use it as to relax and get to sleep.

From what I've seen on r/ASMR no one is saying that the term "brain orgasms" is making it dirty or impure.
It's just giving people the wrong idea about ASMR.

Reminds me of this girl who went to my middle school, and she had had a stroke during birth and had limited use of the left side of her body because of it. Somehow, after knowing her for over 6 months (not well mind you, but well enough to notice something like that) I had managed to not pick up on this detail. One day I'm in the hall getting books out of my locker during class, so the halls were empty, and she comes walking down the hall limping really obviously and her left arm was kinda stiff. And I'm like "Why are you walking like that?" and she's looks so shocked and was like "Uh don't you know?" and i thought she was kidding and had just sprained her ankle or something so I made some stupid joke (can't remember now). She nearly started crying and I panicked and couldn't believe I had never realized this about her or heard about it from someone else so I just sprinted back into my class.
She moved soon after that and I never saw her again. I never got the chance to apologize or explain that I was genuinely not making fun of her condition... I still feel shitty about it and I'm 22 now.
