It seems to me that 5 years is a little harsh. He should obviously be punished if he broke the rules (probably no photos/phones in the exam room), but for like a year is good enough.

no, schools often use the Sports hall (or Gym) for Exams because there is enough space for tables ect
Im currently doing mine in a sports hall that smells of sweat and is cold as fuck, pretty refreshing though considering how hot it is outside.
