I shot guns several times already and from my experience except if it's in a sports environment you don't stretch your arm the fuck out if you want to have a steady hand and especially if you want to avoid tiring your arm out in like 3 seconds.
And the reason you stretch your arm out with your other hand behind your back when shooting for sports isn't for comfort, it's just a standard position so everyone's on the same level.
