I don't understand why people obssess so much over calling it a sport
Seriously why is it so important? Calling it a sport or not changes absolutely nothing.
Also, what's the problem with just calling it competitive gaming?

If you can translate that to 240 apm and play starcraft competitively then yeah sure

Shooting quickly with accuracy does require a fair amount of work for the arms, torso and legs, especially if its high caliber.

If you want to be an ass about it, just further specify things. Athletes are by definition people who participate in sports. However, with sport encompassing all types of competitive games of varying categories, you could further narrow athletics to those who participate in physical sport. There's yet to be an accepted term for those who participate in other types of sport though so "athlete" is just used to encompass anyone that plays sport as per its definition.
