All the characters have seperate backstories, the animation is literally perfect and some of the best I've ever seen in anything, it's creative, and it has it's funny moments [sp]Cancer[/sp]
It's less about, "look at this great storytelling" and more about, "look at this eye candy for 15 minutes".
