I can confirm, I lived in Michigan all my life and I go to college in Florida now and I have never heard the term "Soda" as long as I lived but people kept making fun of me for saying "pop" so now I say Soda. Also this(sorry it's multiple pictures)

No tip?
Grew up in South Dakota but my parents are from the St. Louis area, so I use soda and pop interchangeably. I still don't understand why southerners use the name for a specific brand of cola as a catch-all slang for carbonated drinks.
I'm born, raised in, and live in Texas, and I say soda. I've also never heard someone call Dr. Pepper Coke, or Sprite Coke. Or anything that's not Coke Coke. So I don't get banned again, here's content:

However, for some reason I've heard a lot of Texans call salsa 'hot sauce.'

Just out of curiosity, what does it say on the can?
Just out of curiosity, what does it say on the can?
it varies. i've seen coca-cola and coke around here on the can itself. nobody here (i live in north florida) calls soda 'coke' unless they want a fuckin coke. otherwise they'll say they're having a soda, but usually describe it by brand name
No I mean, soft drinks in general, what does it say in the can?
Do you mean the brand or what the can calls the drink?
Do you mean the brand or what the can calls the drink?
The can. Also this thing of some regions not recognizing the others term is stupid. In Brazil there also is some of that, but if someone calls something they know by another name they will know.
;45539413'] I live in Michigan, mostly a pop state, but I grew up in a house of people who lived out west and said soda, so I picked up soda. There are legit some people who won't know what you're talking about here when you refer to soda.
Over here where we speak proper English like what the Queen does* we just say fizzy drink. Or "d'ye want summat to drink?". Or "just a lemon-lime for me, ta, love". And soda water actually has sodium in it. *geddit?
