You pull the lid off, pull the old part, and put the new one it. It's dead simple. RAM and GPU's are swappable, CPUs are not, pretty standard for a workstation Mac. Additional expansion cards are provided by Thunderbolt 2 expansion bays.

There's actually a rackmount kit you can get to do exactly that. It's got a lot of expansion card slots and a massive hard drive array. The Mac Pro goes in a little hole on the front and you pull a lever and all the connectors go in and away you go.

The GTS isn't as modular as that, it opens up very nicely on the whole side and is super easy to clean. Only the hard drives are in those little module thingies. Also this isn't funny content sorry.
