Some of you people seem to be a little slow, so let me explain this carefully:
Painting yourself black or white or brown is not racist in itself.
It's not racist if I dress up as a black man. But it's racist if I dress up as a black man with exaggerated features and put on an idiot act to convey the idea that all black people are stupid.
It's not the make-up that makes it racist, it's what you use it for. So if you see those old pictures of blackfaced people from 50's shows, it's not racist because they painted a white man black, but because they used it without exception for dim-witted characters.
