Happened all the time with my unit. They'd keep on telling stories or doing whatever they could to make people laugh, and in turn smoke the living shit out of us. One example is that my company was called down for a formation in the middle of the night because somebody wouldn't stop opening the doors to one of the bays (there's alarms on them the drill sergeants have to turn off), and as we're running to our platoon areas, one of the drill sergeants jumps out and scares the fuck out of me, making me jump and dive into our PT pit. Everyone in the area started laughing, drill sergeant and trainee alike, and as soon as the drill sergeants were done laughing, they went ahead and smoked everyone for laughing while waiting for the slow as fuck people to get to formation to smoke us again. Great times.
