What you do is fly onto a cliff outside of the NATO base and snipe their pilots so the helicopter lands. It was taking me longer than usual because the helicopters kept tipping over when they landed, instantly exploding because early 2000's vidya vehicle logic. I finally got one to land properly, and ran down the cliff to get to it. When I was about 15 feet away, another helicopter flew straight down into it and they both exploded.
