It's bad translation, the word itself is translated instead of it's meaning.
Like that one time I had a PS1 game that was badly translated to the point where it affected the letters in the cheat menu so entering cheats was hard. Least affected was the cheat "godzilla"->"hotzilla", which enabled Japanese voices to replace the English voices that were cut out for some reason.

Back when San Andreas was cracked, the pirates used a quick translating tool a la Google Translate to translate the game to Russian. The translated version of San Andreas became a huge fad in the Russian community, and some words such as "Wasted", which say "Spent", as in "Money wasted", or Big Smoke, who literally got translated to a big smoke, are still used today.
