I go back and forth from Progressive Rock to Post-Rock. I'm also fond of Industrial and Electronic
Personally, I have to say Karnivool: and Dead Letter Circus :

On second thought, I think VNV Nation could deserve more attention. I still haven't come across anyone yet that disliked "Illusion".

The Beatles.
I can only think of one band right now. Skagos, a Black Metal band that not just the standard Black Metal. Much more open compared most Black Metal bands. Still won't be for everyone.
Stratovarius fans are a shitstorm, but their early work is just Timo Tolkki and 3 other guys noone cared about. Works well enough. Chris Reifert's growls were too evil for the mic to pic up, so he called in Satan to record the vocals.

I'd have to say Myrath, they are relatively unknown but they are amazing when it comes to Oriental Metal
Flobots Ludo
The Beatles.
Definitely Mendozza, Sludge band with one album (to my knowledge) called White Rhino, and they are shit hot, they are the fucking cats pyjamas man.

Sara Haze, there isn't much to find about her on the internet but what I've found is this: - Her website, where you can listen her latest album; http://www.sarahaze.com/music - - She's also on Spotify with both her albums and a few EPs.
The Strokes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlYsDNilKDQ
The Strokes are pretty damn popular and well known, do you want them to become like a second Beatles?

Radiohead - They have little fans in comparisons to their rivals (Muse and Coldplay) but are easy so much better Roy Harper - Trippy folk artist from the 70's, influenced people such as Jimmy Page, yet no one my age knows him
So many people posting bands that I am pretty sure are big deals already. But I guess you can never have too many fans. But I seriously think The Dear Hunter kinda need more attention. Especially for a band that doesn't sound so "mainstream".
