I thought it was trying to hard to be like Battlestar Galactica
Battlegate Starlactica more like it.
Universe was not terrible but it was not good enough to hold my interest either. It just didn't have what SG1 and SGA had.
Well hopefully the ending is actually kind of a ending, if they just end it where they continue to explore the dark reigions of space hopefully to return to earth again.

What i don't understand is, why so many people seem to "not like" this show.
Seriously...give me a few good and i really mean "good" reasons, besides the usual "it's like BSG" or "Lost" shit one hears around the net.

I still watch it, but it isn't all that compelling for me to watch it since nothing really gets done, especially in the first season.
For instance, season one's time travel episode, despite being my favourite episode, nothing happened at all plot wise. It was a great episode because a bunch of main characters got violently killed (the IOA woman). Then they throw a wrench in it and practically say "welp, all a dream!" and it is never referenced again.
That happened a lot.
Season two was a lot better, but it was still a lot of filler. Just look at the fall finale, half the episode was completely unrelated to the plot (Greer and whats-his-name exploring a derelict wreck).
This wouldn't have happened if they didn't kill off Gin. :argh:
so
did they ever fix the galactica?
"Can't it wait Young, I'm in the middle of calibrations"- Rush.
How about they stop with this bullshit and bring back Atlantis....
As long as we see McKay in Stargate Universe, overhearing him coming in a episode called "Seizure".
SG-1 > Atlantis > Universe
SG-1 > Atlantis > Universe
Still, SG-1 (Awesome), Atlantis (Pretty good), Universe (Something completely different to prevent the series from getting stale)
Good. As much as I loved SG-1 and somewhat enjoyed Atlantis, Universe was awful.

If it didn't have anything to do with the Stargate universe (no pun intended) I wouldn't have a problem. It was still a pretty bad show but atleast it would be a pretty bad generic sci-fi show.
Well it was shit anyway, so I'm glad they finally took it behind the garden shed and put a round in it's noggin. It's really a shame, they canceled Atlantis, which I really liked, for this shit?
I hate it when shows get cancelled all a sudden because you never know what happens, such examples were flashforward.
Some people don't understand that with SGU, they're on a ship, in the middle of no-where with auto-pilot on (which they've recently disabled).
Epic fail on your side!
Sure SG-1 "was" better than SGU, but i think going on for more than 10 seasons would have been just too much for a franchise like this...no offense.
Besides,...the Ori are no more, the Replicators f*** up, etc., so what else could you write the story about?
What i don't understand is, why so many people seem to "not like" this show.
Seriously...give me a few good and i really mean "good" reasons, besides the usual "it's like BSG" or "Lost" shit one hears around the net.
These aren't reasons, these are just mere tries by some so called "fans", to repel something they're afraid of.
SGU brought some fresh air into the ageing topic of
"traveling amongst the stars, with an ancient device called the stargate".
I don't want to denie, that the big soap/ love factor in seasons 1 got a bit annoying, as i was rolling my eyes a few times aswell in the episodes like:
"Ah crap...now kiss, move on and blow something up for god sake",
but hey, it really got better after the middle of season 1 in my opinion.
Sure, there's still the "Cloe/Matt thing" going on, but that doesn't bother me at all. =D
Hey...i keep watching the episode and wait with "patience" (what most of you obviously don't have) till it's over, no matter what. ^^
Comeing back to the topic of "fresh air"...it should be clear, that a franchise which exists since the 90's, can't just blatantly go on and on with the same things over and over again.
Again, SG-1 was brilliant, SGA was good spin-off aswell no question...but denieing a 2nd. spin-off just because it's not like the others, is just stupid, childish and shows the inability to cope with innovations....which by summing it all up...would make a true "fan".
Besides, even in real life, true fans of e.g. a soccer team stick together with them even in bad times, if they're not playing well. ^^
So with that...i should probably end my comment.
Hope you won't just go ahead trying so "smash" my arguments without giving it atleast some thought.
(Critiques to this are of course appreciated ^^)
Greetings

I don't like it because it's so bloody depressing. Yes I know it's supposed to be, but I'm not going to watch a show just because it's Stargate. I got up to episode 9 or something and just stopped watching because I didn't like it.

Series 2 is much better, even if it is still a bit depressing
I feel like im one of the only people that like this show from episode 1, i got annoyed at parts of it but that goes with the other stargates as well.
On a similar ish note, i always though stargate could do a spin off with NID searching for goaulds hiding on earth.

That would kinda ruin what Continuum was supposed to do, bring an end to the Goa'uld story arc.

Can it wait Sheperd, I'm in the middle of some weapon calibrations-Garrus
As for the SG1 and Atlantis movies. The series will never come back. The only reason why SG1 went for 10 seasons was because Sci Fi (NOT SYFAGGOTRY) picked it up for another 5. Atlantis became too much to make so they had to cancel it (Happens to most 5 season shows). SGU had a great story unfolding until they canceled it so now we get 10 more episodes, woopdyfuckingdoo. The SG1 and Atlantis movies have been written and scripted, SG1 is supposed to go first then Atlantis. BUT poor ass MGM refuses to sell the rights to Stargate so those fuckers have it on hold until the company dies or sells the franchise.
