Well, since this thread has gone to shit, I might as well derail it. I just bought Land of the Dead, is it any good? So far I've seen 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later (fuck all the hate, I liked it), Dawn of the Dead (a little bit slow, but still a bunch of fun) and Dead Snow (holy fuck my favorite zombie movie). While I'm at it, any other good recommendations?

And no, apart from the Romero series and the ones you've already seen there really aren't any other zombie movies worth watching... that I know of at least. As for the OP, I was going to come in here expecting a well thought out post but instead you just basically made yourself look like a moron. So, I'll just go and call you an idiot.
I like his older films, such as Dawn and Day (Night of the Living Dead never did it for me) but still maintain George A. Romero is a pretty untalented directer, and his films have only gotten worse and worse as he's aged. [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] And when I say he's gotten worse over the years, I mean anything he's made in the last 10 years is totally unwatchable garbage, some of the worst films I've EVER seen.
Can't argue with that. I completely disagree with Night though, it's definitely one of my favorite zombie films ever and probably the creepiest one ever made.
Yeah no I didn't say Night was bad, I just said it wasn't my thing. His new films however are flat out tragically bad.
I'll never understand how shit like Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, or Survival of the Dead could come from the same person that brought us the classics of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
I think George must have gotten dementia [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] but everyone just kind of gives him money and lets him do what he wants anyway
some people watch this movie to get the meaning or message behind it, but i watch it to watch people vs zombies.
It frightened me because it was the first time I witnessed zombies running. [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] day of the dead is still one of the greats, though

Land was the last one I would consider watchable, but it was still pretty bullshit.

Dawn of the Dead is my favorite movie ever. I watch it almost once every week, sometimes more. I understand how some may not like it, but I do take offense if someone states that it's a bad movie. Just the idea of relating people shopping in a mall to zombies is in itself has made a lasting impression on our society, but there's a lot of subtle themes going on in the movie the whole run time. Why do the zombies go to the mall? Because it was an important place in their lives. I mean, it's hilarious and upsetting at the same time, because it's true. Then think about this. A zombie is essentially the ultimate consumer. It only has one motivation, and goal; to seek and consume until it dies. What perfect place for them to congregate then at the same place humans do? Then you have the human aspect of it. The Dawn survivors were originally going to go to Canada, but stop at the mall for supplies. Then they begin to get greedy, why just take what they need when they can take the whole thing? After the survivors secure the mall, they loose all purpose in their lives since they have no definable goal. They have all this stuff, and they lose themselves in it, completely forgetting that the world has gone to hell. It's not until Roger's death that they slowly begin to realize how fucked up the situation is.
Slow moving zombies are awesome.
Somehow, I feel more scared of slow moving ones than fast zombies.
Land of the Dead fucking sucked but since you liked 28 Weeks Later then you'll probably like it.
What? How did LotD suck?
Well I find this entire pseudo-science thing that the dead are walking unappealing. I like it more when there is like an infection like in 28 days later, because it makes more sense. Doesn't set off my nerd senses as much.
So a way of zombies that was made up probably around when they started writing the script makes more sense to you than hundreds, if not thousands of years of legends? Sounds like OP doesn't know how to appreciate good movies.
How did land of the dead suck? Is that legitimately a serious question?
Yes, that is a legitimate question. Why?
Because it's an awful, awful movie? The plot is retarded, the action sucks, the acting sucks, the writing sucks, it's just all around bad.
Dawn of the Dead is an awesome movie
Because it's an awful, awful movie? The plot is retarded, the action sucks, the acting sucks, the writing sucks, it's just all around bad.
I enjoy it in a so-bad-it's-good way.

Nah, I liked Land of the Dead. not sure why though.

the remakes zombies were pretty legit though
George Romero actually explained this one. He said that they do not move fast because if they did, their legs would break.
I like how he was concerned about their leg movements and not the whole issue of zombies not being able to exist.

Yes it's slow but it's not for slow people, quit crying and pick another movie to watch..
