I take it I'm the only one who legitimately enjoyed it?
The script was too poor for me to get into it properly. The setting was cool, but the characters were all completely flat and the message was too obvious. I also thought he went a little too far with the dead becoming more intelligent. Bub is one thing, but a whole town full of zombies suddenly becoming smarter seemed a bit much. It also didn't make any sense for [sp]Cholo[/sp] to know how to use a gun and attack Kaufman specifically the second he became zombified. That was a complete betrayal of the drama built up in the other films concerning the newly-risen dead losing their personalities when they come back (Johnny and Roger in Night/Dawn). This isn't to say that I don't like Land Of The Dead, I own it on DVD and occasionally watch it. Many of the lines are very funny to me, and I like the action/gore. Also there's a midget in a pimp-suit and he gets shot. That's worth watching on its own merits.
Just to quote Simon Pegg quickly. "Death is a disability, not a superpower. It's hard to run with a cold, let alone the most debilitating malady of them all."
I've only seen 4 "Dead" films, night, land, dawn remake and diary. I didn't particularly enjoy the the Dawn remake, it seemed very.....different, as if it lacked pacing, it felt incomplete to me. But OP, you're not watching these films right. You say you liked 28 days later, yet you dislike the Dead saga, they're both the goddamned same films if I'm honest, humans are the bad guys and it takes others returning from the dead to prove it.

[editline]10th November 2010[/editline] you gotta watch Day of the Dead, I think that might be my favorite.
I believe that Day is when Romero started losing his touch.
Steven Spielberg's Braindead.
Don't you mean "Peter Jackson's Braindead"? [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] or...Dead-Alive, depending on where you live.

I just watched this a few weeks ago, I've watched the entire Halloween series, the entire Friday the 13th series, saw nightmare on elm street, saw All the Alien movies, saw A million other horror movies. I'm not even lying when I say, this is my favorite one out of all of them, not far behind Friday the 13th 1980, and Silence of the Lambs. Dawn of the Dead, wasn't really a horror movie, but it was fun as hell to watch, the music, the biker scenes, it was a beast movie. I just loved the feel of the movie, kind of funny, ironic, scary, suspenseful, and had this really strange feeling of innocence to it.
I believe that Day is when Romero started losing his touch.
Major disagree. I'd call Day his last really good film.
Major disagree. I'd call Day his last really good film.
Day's a good movie, but he was starting to lose his touch. Everything after that just sucked.
I've only seen Night, Dawn, Dawn Remake, and Land. Dawn remake and Land were amusing but Night and Dawn will always have a special place in my heart. I first saw them when I was like 6 and they scared the living fuck out of me, seeding a deep fear of zombies in me, and to this day they still make me incredibly uneasy. But that was just those originals films that have managed and still manage to do so. The only other modern zombie flick that managed to unnerve me is 28 Days Later, but I think really that was mostly because it was the first time I had seen running zombies, and they were completely brutal too which only added to it.
I didn't like Dawn. I guess it's good if you're into that kind of film, but it's not for me. I don't really think any of Romero's films are all that.
I preferred the remake cause it was in my time, but that is just me, I need to get around to finish watching the 1984 version.

i like dawn, night remake, and dawn remake but day is the best
Oh fuck. OP is a ZOMBIE. Get out the fucking cricket bats!
I preferred the remake cause it was in my time, but that is just me, I need to get around to finish watching the 1984 version.
The closest you're near is Day of the Dead and that was 1985.
i like dawn, night remake, and dawn remake but day is the best
Very few people seem to like the Night remake, I'm not sure why. I love it.
The Night remake is pretty awesome. And the Dawn remake is fantastic.
