I still think it's stupid they can say shit about anything if they kill of there adoption animals.
Paradox anyone?
They're a bunch of hypocrite dickwads.

"I'm an insulin-dependent diabetic. Twice a day I take synthetically manufactured insulin that still contains some animal products -- and I have no qualms about it ... I'm not going to take the chance of killing myself by not taking insulin. I don't see myself as a hypocrite. I need my life to fight for the rights of animals." I don't think they've been updating the "Killer Chart".
I wouldn't too if I were such a massive hypocrite.

Ah, this is what it was.
"Just seven animals -- out of the 2,216 it took in. PETA just broke its own record."
Peta can go sit on a bayonet

I read that and looked at your name/avatar.
I lol'd. :v:
To be honest I kind of agree with them on this particular matter... after that second video. The first one is fucking retarded, no doubt. But the dude in the second video makes some valid points. The fact he isn't naked and chanting a load of shit helps too.
I mean, why not use fake materials? "wah wah wah traditions wah wah wah" Whatever... it's not like any of us would really give a fuck if the used fake fur.
You bang on about how "functional" it was, well.. it doesn't get used in combat any more so all of those points are moot.
At this moment in time, they are nothing but decoration and to uphold an outdated tradition.
We've really got nothing to lose I guess.
And before all you pricks start spamming shitty ratings, I hate Peta... don't get me wrong. All I'm saying is, that dude in the second video makes a valid point and that we've got nothing to lose by using fake materials.

Yeah, he posed naked for a magazine... Which kinda proves my point that they have to get naked to promote PETA.
Edit:
The bit about the functionality of it was just for your information, I was hoping it would answer people's questions as to why they wear them.
Yeah, because their videos about slaughterhouses are totally fake and none of that ever happens. Yep, all made up.
Their "horrifying" video is 99% bullshit; Video from the 80's, 70's, 60's and they even have the audacity (or stupidity) to site video from the 1930's or even earlier.

Angel answered why they don't use synthetic hats.
Hey angel, would you kindly post the video on P&T:bullshit peta?
I think PETA has a good objective, try to achieve better standards for animals.
The only problem is, they try and achieve that goal by the most absurd and biased ways. I love meat, but I also think that a slight bit more humanity with the cows would be great. If that means not eating meat, well then fuck cows I'll eat them anyway.
Also I really like that better naked than fur thing. Women mostly wear fur if you catch my drift. :q:
Edit:
Seriously though, PETA is stupid. They are full of extremist hypocrites.
Humans are animals. We were intended to hunt and eat meat.
We would have gone extinct if we hadn't made fur clothes or didn't eat meat.
PETA is far from "progressive".

"What they do not realise is that the MoD have already tried synthetic materials but they simply don't work, as these get water-logged. To please them, the MoD have resulted to acquiring fur from bears that have died of natural causes, road kill and the sick, dying and infirm. This results in low quality fur that is thin and does not have as much volume. They have also stopped retired guardsmen from keeping their bearskins and are now pooling the hats to the guards."
That said, this is a matter of principle. If PETA can get away with this what's next?
Silly PETA, dirty tricks are for politicians!
Nobody takes the PETA seriously. I remember when they kicked up a storm about Batman dropping some dogs down an elevator shaft in the fucking movie "The Dark Knight". The scene must have lapsed my mind, so I grabbed my DVD and searched for it. I saw the scene in question.
I never laughed so hard in my life, as I did, after watching that scene.
We should make PETA-member-skin caps.

Yeah. Humans are piss poor hunters, but we used our massive brains as weapons.
I think it is perfectly ok to eat meat, the human body needs it (which is why vegetarians need supplements just to keep healthy).
I also think Bearskin Caps are necessary. The history behind the bearskin cap is immense. It has also become an icon. Whenever someone thinks anything about England, Bearskin Caps are probably one of the first things to be mentioned. Even the methods of acquiring the bearskin is completely humane (pest control, killed instantly, not bred in a cage, etc.).
PETA are just a bunch of butthurt animal activists that have forgotten what their real mission is and now hate anything that involve humans dominating animals.

i'm against peta's ideas about medical research
though it's absolutely hilarious when FP'ers get their knickers in a twist about it and start posting about how much they like sucking and chewing on meat

Easy;
Have the MoD use human skin, from all the members of PETA.

I have to agree on this. You don't see any other country wearing recreation (as in a copy, not athletic) spoils from a battle almost 200 years ago. It would be like American soldiers wearing British hats from the Battle of New Orleans in 1812 while marching around Washington D.C.
I had no idea those caps had so much history. I always thought the British guards looked silly in them, but now I can see the awesomeness in them.

Did you know that several Drum Majors in the US Armed Forces wear bearskins as part of their uniform?
A Drum Major in a bearskin even parade in front of Obama for his inauguration.
