oops, missed 2 calls from my grandma today
[editline]03:29PM[/editline]
thanks also for happy birthday :D
Well, time's best for the next installment, even if it is a bit early. (usually I churn 'em out on weekends)
"OH CRAP", Gabriel gasped, gazing upon Damien, who had fallen asleep, allowing the Great Being of Matter, Chattur'gha, to once again awaken from his slumber. Only this time, He was not bound, and was free to fulfill his plans. "This is NOT good!" "FEAR ME NOT, MORTALS...", Chattur'gha reassured. "I PLAN TO WORK WITH YOU, SO TO ENSURE THAT REALITY SHALL NOT FALL TO D'SPARIL'S MACHINATIONS..." "You- I'm sorry, you wha?", Erika queried, utterly bemused by the strange benevolence of the normally-demonic Ancient. "THE MIND OF THIS QUASI-MORTAL HAS CHANGED ME AS I SLUMBERED...", He replied. "I NO LONGER DESIRE TO CONSUME ALL LIFE... MY AGENDAS HAVE CHANGED: I NOW WISH TO BRING YOUR SPECIES GREAT POWER, IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR SERVITUDE TO ME. SHOULD YOU AID ME, YOU SHALL BE REWARDED FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE GREATER CAUSE". "...wait...", Erika began, still taking in the magnitude of how a mortal mind could have changed the will of a God. "So you're sayin' that you don't wanna eat everyone, but instead wanna make everyone your slaves?!" "NOT SLAVES, CHILD...", He corrected. "I MERELY INTEND TO REWARD THOSE WHO SERVE ME, WITH MY POWER. I HAVE SENSED THE DESIRES OF MORTALS: THEY LUST AFTER POWER AS MORTAL MEN LUST AFTER MORTAL WOMEN. IT IS THIS LUST FOR POWER THAT SHALL MAKE MORTALKIND MY SERVANTS... YOU SEEK POWER TOO, DON'T YOU?" "Well, aheh...", Erika responded. "I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't want power... Hell, who doesn't? Doin' all that crazy stuff with it is just AWESOME! But I prefer to, like, EARN my power. Sure, it takes time to gain power, but it feels much more satisfying knowing that what you do with your power is all you, an' not someone else..." "I sense boundless Breath in Him...", Kanek observed with awe. "A Scion of Mother's power, if ever I see one. I consider your offer, Cha'gha. In time I decide whether you truly of Mother, but not just now". "GOOD... GOOD...", Chattur'gha grinned with approval. "IT IS GOOD TO SEE THAT AT LEAST ONE MORTAL HAS CONSIDERED MY OFFER... YOUR COMPANION ADAM, HOWEVER, WASN'T SO ACCEPTING".
Erika suddenly felt nervous, remembering Adam. She ran towards the car, and found Adam lying on the back seat, seemingly distraught due to some unknown reason. "Adam... Sweetie...", she began with concern as she entered the car. "You ok? What's wrong?" Adam looked in Erika's direction, a sense of depression about him. "He told me things...", he replied with sorrow in his voice. "Things I had trouble believing, yet also made perfect sense..." "What?", she queried. "What things?" "Things like, like the reason why he's so uptight about our relationship...", he continued. "He said... Chattur'gha said that it was because Damien's jealous. Jealous of us, of how our love reminds him of the loss of his own love..." "But... But he seemed so ok with us being together...", Erika replied, shocked by the motivation behind Damien's supposed prudity concerning them. "He said it himself that me an' you'd be great together, and that our love was 'predestined' or something!" "Oh, but there's more, Erika...", Adam continued. "He also spoke of the reason Damien chose to help me find redemption, why we're such close friends. He said it was because..." He trailed off and turned his head away, as if he didn't want to say the reason, like it was too terrible to mention. "Because of what?", Erika asked. "Adam..." She moved closer to him, attempting to comfort him. "You can tell me... I'm the one you can confide in, I can help..." Adam looked back towards Erika, now given the confidence to say that which he dreaded to say. "He said that the reason for me and Damien's close friendship was that...", he continued. "That Damien felt 'attracted' to me! That he secretly wanted ME! I honestly couldn't believe it when I first heard the words, but it now makes so much sense! All the joking around, the closeness, the way he looks at me sometimes, it all adds up! He was actually- actually-" Now Adam hit a big roadblock. He knew the words to describe what Damien was, but just couldn't say it, lest he see the terrible things associated with the words, concerning his close friend. Erika now tired of Adam's intolerant prudity, and decided to just say the words for him. "Gay for you?", she guessed. Adam looked at her with wide eyes of shocked surprise.
"I really didn't wanna hear those words, but you just HAD to say them anyway, didn't ya?", he retaliated with anxious disgust. "Oh god... I honestly couldn't have believed it, but all the reasons are there, clear as day! I honestly don't think i'll ever be able to look at him the same way again..." Erika had always had a sneaking suspicion that Damien's closeness to Adam wasn't as innocent and platonic as it seemed, but this seemed too unfeasable to be true. Furthermore, she recalled Damien's mentioning on the cross-desert maglev back on Tso, that Chattur'gha now resented Damien for his refusal to aid Him, and that He would make Damien pay dearly for it, by making those closest to him suffer. "Lies...", she sighed under her breath. "He's lying Adam, Chattur'gha just wants to cause complications amongst us, so that if He manages to break free, we'd be unable to pull together and stop Him". "He- he was LYING?", Adam responded, shaken by the notion of such spiteful deceit. "No-one's exempt from dishonesty, sweetie...", Erika continued. "Not you, not me, not Damien, not even Chattur'gha- ESPECIALLY not Chattur'gha!" "So, it was all just a clever ruse to destroy us...", Adam realised. "Chattur'gha's such a dick..." Meanwhile, outside the car, Gabriel was arguing with Chattur'gha. "You're a powerful creature, Ancient...", Gabriel remarked. "But you're no God... Even though there's no such thing as the Devil, i'd say you're the closest thing there is to there being one!" "WATCH YOUR TONGUE, MORTAL", Chattur'gha growled defensively. "YOU CANNOT BEGIN TO COMPREHEND THE MAGNITUDE OF THE POWER I HOLD DOMINION OVER. I COULD EASILY DESTROY YOU AND YOUR COMPANIONS WITH NO EFFORT AT ALL. BUT I SHALL NOT: FOR THEY ARE INSTRUMENTAL PAWNS IN THE COSMIC GAME OF POWER. ELIMINATING THEM WOULD BE A FOOLISH ENDEAVOUR, SO I SHALL STAY MY WRATH. FOR NOW AT LEAST..." "Can YOU comprehend what power this whip represents?", Gabriel countered threateningly, shaking the coiled-up Vampire Killer at Chattur'gha, who instinctively took a step backwards. "This whip represents a searing hatred of the Darkness, and all that draw their power and origins from it! Though it was forged to combat the vampires, it affects ALL fallen angels that take on physical form in the universe... Not only would the Vampire Killer destroy Damien's body, but it would eradicate your power as well, sending you weakly whimpering back to the Beyond! So don't you tempt me, Ancient, lest I consider using this on you..." "SELF-RIGHTEOUS BASTARD...", Chattur'gha scowled with submissive chagrin. "VERY WELL, I SHALL BEHAVE... BUT KNOW THIS, BELMONT: WHEN I AM ONCE AGAIN FREE, I'LL COME FOR YOU, FIRST..." "And when that day comes...", Gabriel replied with self-righteous confidence. "I'll be ready for you".
Meanwhile, far away from our heroes, in the middle of the South Pacific, there was a heavy disturbance in the water. The sea seemed to churn and boil, as a bright-green light glowed in the depths, slowly brightening as it got closer and closer to the surface. A nearby trawler from the nearby island of Pohnpei was fishing in the waters nearby when it happened. One of the sailors onboard was the first to behold the glowing green form. As he gathered several other crew members to view the disturbance, little did they know of the true significance of this event. A massive spire of shining jade emerged first from the inky depths, accompanied by several other spires which rose along with it. These towers had not seen the light of day since it sank to the seafloor millions of years ago, and now they glistened in the sunlight, encrusted with deep-sea corals unlike any previously catalogued. As the rest of the structure surfaced, the sailors onboard beheld massive hideous bas-reliefs decorating a titanic monolith-crowned citadel, and several gargantuan statues dotting the island on which this vast city seemed to reside. But even with the entire city surfaced, it didn't simply stop on the water's surface. It continued to slowly rise into the air, and several colossal glowing orbs of a bright-green crystalline substance were revealed on the underbelly of the island. At a relatively-safe height, the island ceased to ascend, and instead simply hovered gently in the air. But despite it's semmingly silent and dead nature, it would not remain this way for long... Deep within the central citadel of the now-risen city of R'lyeh, an ancient titan started to stir. Bound to a giant stone throne by chains of fire, it's tentacles started to twitch as the fresh air of the surface air blew through the ceiling windows, stroking against it's moist semi-gelatinous skin. Slowly, it's eyes began to open, still recovering from the enrapturing sleep of countless millennia. A massive bellowing roar echoed from within the city, causing the sailors on the boat to experience terror like never before. In all truth, this was simply the creature yawning after such a long hibernation. But even this simple expression of awakening, seemingly so hideously terrifying, could not prepare anyone on the entire planet for what sound would come next. This sound was intentional, and resonated within the minds of every living thing. A powerful voice, feminine and regal, echoed across the aether, announcing the declaration "Cthulhu Ts'ilo!", informing every sentient on Earth, that Great Cthulhu had at long last awakened.
"...SO...", Chattur'gha realised as he heard the proclamation of the Great Old One. "SHE HAS AWAKENED AGAIN AT LAST..." "...she?!", Gabriel gasped with dumb-struck awe at what Chattur'gha was insinuating. "You can't possibly mean- Holy fuckin' shit... Are you tryin' to tell me that Cthulhu is A GIRL?!?" "IT SEEMS SHE IS...", Chattur'gha continued, apparently as surprised as Gabriel at the notion of a female Cthulhu. "I WAS PREVIOUSLY UNAWARE OF THE CREATURE'S NATURE PRIOR TO BEING TRAPPED IN THIS MORTAL SHELL, BUT EVEN DAMIEN WAS UNAWARE OF THE APPARENT FEMININE NATURE OF THIS SO-CALLED 'GREAT OLD ONE', ASSUMING THE FICTIONAL RAMBLINGS OF THAT MORTAL FOOL HE CALLED 'LOVECRAFT' TO BE A COMPLETELY VIABLE REFERENCE POINT FOR THIS ENTITY... IT ALL GOES TO SHOW THAT I SHOULD NOT TRUST EVERY SINGLE MEMORY OF THIS HOST, AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU" "I guess I gotta agree with that too...", Gabriel sighed. "Not everything related to a fiction goes exactly as the fiction did... Like how Damien assumed that Soma refused to become the new Dark Lord, since that was the Good Ending of Dawn of Sorrow. But not everything's a Good Ending, an' that's a cold truth I can't deny..." "IT IS GOOD TO MAINTAIN A GRIP ON REALITY", Chattur'gha confirmed. "BUT ENOUGH OF THIS... R'LYEH HAS RISEN, AND THE GREAT OLD ONE IMPRISONED WITHIN HAS ALREADY AWAKENED. WE MUST MAKE HASTE TO THE CITY IF WE ARE TO DESTROY IT" "For once, I agree with you, Ancient", Gabriel agreed. After all the hassle, the heroes finally returned to the car, and proceeded across the skies of the Earth towards R'lyeh. After many hours of contemptful exchanges of opinion between Chattur'gha and Adam, the city emerged from the clouds before them, as it passed over the Andes. However, it was not merely our heroes who had come to the city. An Imperial expedition had already established a forward base on the western rim, as well as other parties such as massive corporations and dark cults had started to encroach on the dreaded citadel. Finding a relatively safe parking spot near the northern entrance, our heroes stepped out onto the floating island on which the city was constructed so many millenniums ago. The ground seemed to be in a constant state of flux, as if it were neither there nor not there, impossible to describe with simpler definitions. As our heroes walked along the basalt roads that led to the central citadel, they started to see odd creatures squirming and writhing on the stone plains that surrounded them. Gelatinous amoebic blobs of living slime trickled along the otherworldly coral formations, and large tree-like polyps seemed to sway and sing in the breeze. Once they reached the remains of lesser temples that littered the area around the main monolithic structure, however, things less strange but more terrifying than the previous creatures were present, attacking the expeditionaries cowering before the horrifying bas-reliefs that adorned the temple walls.
Corpses... Lumbering, rotting human cadavers, wrapped in putrid wrappings of embalmed fabric, coaxed into a pitiful existence of gibbering insanity by a mixed cacophony of takwinic chanting, penetrating every level of their psyches; these corpses were coerced into life... These undead creatures were indeed animated by magickal means, as are all undead, but the enchantment of undeath that forged these zombies was indeed aligned with the Power of the Mind, a power of which Cthulhu had been affaliated with since His, or in this case Her, conceptual creation at the hands of H.P Lovecraft, the troubled writer who's stories spawned an entirely new brand of horror fiction in the popular culture of the early 20th century. And accompanying the Zombies, gargantuan Horrors of stomping flesh consumed those that escaped the grasp of the lesser minions. The physiology of these titans, remarkably abstract: a trio of eyes, with their lids festooned with tiny, hooklike teeth, that gaped and gnashed... One of the Horrors looked in the direction of our heroes, and a dread feeling started to come over them. The staring of the creatures gazed through their souls like looking through a window, and the heroes could actually feel the gaze upon them, raking their innards with the "touch" of the esoteric sight, the shiver of their senses combing their bowels through empty space... Adam felt an old feeling that he hadn't felt for over 5 months, the same sense of terror and sorrow that he experienced upon seeing Beverly's undead armies. Although he had become considerably desensitized to his fear of the undead over the months after his bout of madness, these monsters, these evils woven of flesh and bone and madness, seemed to bypass his sense of courage against undeath, as if they absorbed sanity simply by looking at something. Chattur'gha, however, was far from fazed. The power of the Mind had no effect on the power of Matter, meaning that these creations of madness were useless against Him. With nary an effort, Chattur'gha placed His vessel's fist forward, and opening the hand, unleashed a powerful beam of physical energy at the insane undead, vapourizing all in it's path. "THIS WILL INDEED BE EASIER THAN IMAGINED...", Chattur'gha grinned. "THE POWER OF THE MIND IS DOMINANT HERE, AND THE POWER OF MATTER CAN SNUFF IT OUT WITH LITTLE EFFORT. CTHULHU WILL BE NO CHALLENGE. NO CHALLENGE AT ALL..." "Don't be too confident, Ancient...", Gabriel warned. "Everything has it's weaknesses, even you" "THE POWER OF ULYAOTH IS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN, BELMONT", Chattur'gha smirked with smug confidence. "YOUR CONCERNS ARE UNFOUNDED..." And with that, He walked through the massive entryway into Cthulhu's citadel, shortly followed by the others. "Let's jus' hope...", Erika whispered to Adam. "That Damien wakes up soon..."
"I've got a reeeeal bad feelin' 'bout Chattur'gha..."
To be continued...

Hi Nattey
They call me Cuban Pete,
I'm the king of the Rumba beat,
When I play the Maracas I go
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom
Yes, sir, I'm Cuban Pete
I'm the craze, of my native street
When I start to dance, everything goes
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom
The senorita's they sing,
And then they swing with their lumbaro.
It's very nice!
So full of spice
And when they dance and they bring a happy ring,
They're a care-o, singing a song....
All the day long!
So if you like the beat,
Take a lesson from Cuban Pete,
And I'll teach you to
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom!
Si Senorita, I know that you would like to chicky boom chick.
It's very nice!
So full of spice!
I place my hand on your hip and if you will just give me your hand,
Then we shall try,
Just you and I...AYE-AYE-AYE!
So if you like the beat,
Take a lesson from Cuban Pete,
And I'll teach you to
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom
Chick chicky boom!
(Various made up words)
