I thought it was good.
Too soapy for my tastes, really.
That lawyer too.
Romo Lampkin for president[sp]...oh...wait...[/sp]
I watched one episode then stopped. It's really nothing like BSG.
is caprica any good?
Lots of people hated it. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Don't expect anything like BSG though.
I just wish the starbuck thing was less bullshit I actually just wish the whole ending arch was less bullshit, I mean, I still liked it, but the whole god thing kinda didn't sit right with me.
Truth be told, I only started getting around to watch the series after an episode of Portlandia

The whole 100k+ years ago things was silly. They should have made it the came to earth just before Greek times and made it they gave them their religion and knowledge or some shit. Would have made more sense. Starbuck being and angel or something was only slightly annoying

Okay so I've just finished the series in a little over two weeks. I had a few thoughts. I won't spoiler tag them because it seems that most people in this thread have already seen everything, if not this is your warning. -My favorite couple definitely had to be Helo and Athena. I'm a massive sucker for the "forbidden love" Romeo and Juliet trope and I absolutely adore their conviction for each other in the face of all odds. I was almost heartbroken in the attack on the colony when Helo was shot by Doral. I thought that Helo was dead until the very end when they show him with Athena and Hera. Also I freaking love how Athena regained Adama's trust during Season 3. -Boomer's a goddamn bitch. I was ready to forgive her when she cozied up to Tyrol in late Season 4 but it turned out to all be another kick in the balls for Tyrol. I felt so bad for Tyrol the entire series. Another website summed it up quite well.
First it turns out that the woman he loves is a Cylon. Then she gets killed just when he starts to resolve his feelings toward her. Then a twin with her memories shows up, but is in love with another man. Then he narrowly escapes a death sentence. Then he has recurring dreams where he’s committing suicide. Then he has a tumultuous marriage with the woman who killed his former love. Then he finds out that he’s a Cylon. Then he thinks his wife committed suicide. Then he finds out she was sleeping with another man and that he’s not the father of the child he’d been raising. Then his former love comes back, only to dupe him into helping her abscond with a child. Finally, he discovers that his wife was actual killed by one of his fellow “Final Five” Cylons.
-I wound up hating just about all of the crew of the Pegasus. They didn't really see their crewmates as family like Galactica did, and their sense of morality went completely down the toilet. -Starbuck is just an enigma. I liked her up until she "died". It was when she started getting weird that I began not caring much for her character. The ending with her being an "angel" or whatever was bullshit. Just another deus ex machina in the pile. I liked the "real", happy go lucky Starbuck of S1 and S2. When all of the ~mystical~ stuff and Leoben's crap happened I just found myself not liking her anymore. -Lee was pretty cool the entire time. I like how he was always adamantly standing by the right thing, morally. He also wasn't afraid to step out of his fathers shadow. But the whole Dualla thing annoyed me. I felt bad for Billy because he thought he had a genuine chance but it turned out Dualla was fucking Lee the whole time. Goddamn that proposal was awkward though. I actually laughed when Dualla killed herself though. I really think her entire character is a joke. -Cavil seemed like an interesting character with his whole speech on how he wanted to smell dark matter and hear x-rays. It was pretty strange that he willingly had an incestuous relationship with his "mother" and hinted his "sister". It was clear that his character was meant to be a hate-sink for the show with his coldheartedness so he seemed one-dimensional at times. -I felt really bad for Number 3, how she had such high hopes for everything but then got boxed. Then her entire line died and it was just one left who gave up hope on the nuked Earth. -Baltar was a genius character but he annoyed me at a few times. -Gaeta was by far one of the biggest disappointments in my opinion. I really loved him in the first two seasons but then he turned into a bitter and cynical jerk by the mutiny. It just got ridiculous. -Roslin annoyed me at times being a hypocrite with morality but I think she, Admiral Adama and Tigh were all good characters. -Lastly I thought the ending was absolute bull. I really didn't care if they had to tie up the show with modern times, but I actually wish they didn't. Why not just have them settle somewhere else, or find Earth with a modernised nation already, or anything else. Just saying "And 150k years later with a total disregard for evolution and all of the theistic crap you shoved down our throats modern society evolved." seemed dumb. Why give up absolutely everything you know, just to be cavemen. What happens if the Cylons find you? (Theres still an innumerable amount of basestars out there with Cavils on them) Plus, it seemed strange that the entire fleet who could never agree on anything, agreed to just be cavemen when they were arguing about stripping Galactica's technology just days or weeks prior. -It seemed to me that the writing became sloppier later on. All the explanations became, "I don't know", "It must be God's plan?". As an avid science fiction fan, these do not suffice for me. To kind of wrap up all these thoughts I just wanted to say that Battlestar Galactica is definitely up there on the Top 5 best TV shows I've ever seen in my life. While it did have some of its ups and downs, it certainly had a lot more of the former than the latter. I just hope that B&C (which I'm gonna watch soon, with Caprica) is good. Also I hope that this isn't the end of Battlestar Galactica. Hopefully we'll continue to see some new stuff in the coming years. That and Stargate.
Apparently they toyed with the idea of crashing Galactica on Earth, and having the show end with us modern folk discovering it buried in the ground or something. That to me sounds like the proper kind of sci-fi ending the show should have got.
Can't wait to roleplay Battlestar when Star Citizen comes out!
=D I couldn't help but notice Gary Oldman was reminding me of Adama..
Anyone got an mp3 of the music that plays after the destruction of Armistice Station? The one during which Starbuck runs through the halls and Adama is trying to recite his speech.
Richard Gibbs did the music for the original TV movie, if you can find a copy of the Miniseries Movie soundtrack, this is the track you want; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQOHdrd_gXg 'Are you alive'. Kind of seems like it should be two separate tracks but I think it's the best bit of music from the Miniseries. Just use one of the thousand Youtube To Mp3 converters out there and save it in HQ - there's your mp3!
Also check your messages :v:
I can't believe I didn't check that... I do have the soundtrack, just never listened to that first track.
So apparently the flight suit from the revamped Battlestar Galactica is up for sale from a site called propworx. http://www.propworx.com/
I watched the entire new series about a year or two ago, it was absolutely amazing. I watched about one or two episodes a night. I think my favorite ones were the season one finale, the Resurrection ship, Scar, and New Caprica. They stick out the most in my mind. The ending was a bit iffy. It felt right but I didn't really enjoy it.
Me and some mates just played the boardgame and holy shit that was fun. Based on that I'm planning to get into this show. How much do I have to catch up on?
Me and some mates just played the boardgame and holy shit that was fun. Based on that I'm planning to get into this show. Its the first episode but its two hours long. When I watched it on Netflix at the time, that episode wasn't on there and I was completely lost.
I watched this a few months back, I had no idea there was a thread. I cried at the end, sign of a good show. Admiral and Commander is the saddest song ever.
I'm sorta disappointed Blood and Chrome didn't really get anywhere. I want more BSG really badly but it sorta flopped like a fish and the series never got made. :(

Is the prequel show Caprica worth picking up? If you haven't heard of it its basically a back story to how the Cylons were created. I saw maybe 1-2 episodes on TV, can't remember if I liked it or not.
It's okay, but don't expect anything like the original of course
I didn't really like anything about Caprica. The acting was eh, the effects were pretty bad, and I really disliked the story. More the background for the cylons / [sp]one god[/sp] than anything
Yeah, Caprica was awful and doesn't do much for the series. Totally skippable.
I really liked Caprica. I thought it had an interesting story, and I really loved Eric Stoltz's performance.
How did Caprica end? I think I watched it to the point of whats her face dying and her mind being put into a robot body.
