Ok boys, I am going to update/fix this thread. What should I add/fix?
Thread needs more of this: CH-47 Chinook The best transport chopper in the world. It's proven, rugged, reliable and damn fast. These things are so fast that Apaches acting as escorts find it hard to keep up. The noise they make is incredible and being under the wash of one of these things is like being in a hurricane.
Woah is that a house
Needs more Westland Lynx, fastest helicopter in the world. 253mph. :) Main helicopter of the British Army and Royal Navy. Excellent multi role/utility helicopter, holds up well in combat too, particularly useful as a TOW carrier.

A modified version of the one used by the Royal Navy broke the world helicopter speed record in 1986 and it still holds it today. Oh and a cool video of it doing loops and shit. :v:
Those F22's just make me want to jizz. They are so gorgeous. :smug:
These are all pretty badass.
it's just so fucking massive, and check out the payload
The Mil Mi-12 is fucking badass, though it was just an experimental transporter: Biggest chopper ever built

Why doesn't anybody post the real direction military avatation is going. UAV's are where it's at. Unmanned strike UAV's like these: the Excalibur: the EMBLA: the Avenger: the Mantis: and the RQ-170 sentinel (top secret US military project - i dont know where this photo is from)
The engines had tendancy to catch fire and explode moments later if too much throttle was added too fast. The first plane to ruin aviation sucked.
Pilots didn't have enough training time which raised the error margin higher. By the way, Me262 was ready as a fighter in '41, but Hitler wanted the damn thing to be a fighter-bomber. :geno:

By the way, here's a comparison chart for those two choppers.
No it's not, cause Congress cancelled it, remember? We only have like 20 iirc
20, are you serious? We have 151 Built with just under 200 planned, there are more than 20 in a single squadron Bad TH89, Bad! Although we did have 1000 Planned... Oh well, Just one F-22 is as capable as 6 4th Gen Aircraft anyway, Not in weapon capacity, but ability to drop JDAMs from frickin' 30 miles away, Mount Exterior pylons for even more weapons and then ditch them for Stealth, the Stealth capability, it's maneuverability, speed... The numbers in Red Flag and other simulations prove the F-22 is FAR ahead of anything out there now and will be for quite a few years, 151 of them is a force to be reckoned with
How did you get into that? I mean, what qualifications did you have to have? Did you need to do maths and physics in your school years and then do engineering at university or what?
High school degree + something like a 70 in electronics and 50 in mechanics on the ASVAB. I got a 95 in electronics and a 90 in mechanics though. It's not hard to get honestly.. they put me through a long process of training but you follow manuals basically. Tells you step by step what to do. I'll probably get a degree in either electronics, avionics or engineering when I'm done though.

And it shows a drawing in ASCII which is impossible to decipher
This is still technically a military plane, even though its just a 757. But god damn I love this sound.
Thread lacks Harriers This issue has now been corrected.
If I remember, russians had their own harrier as well
Something similar was produced by A.S Yakolev I think but it wasn't successful.
I like TU-95s

AIRFORCE! /caps
The Spitfires Mark I to IX have got to be some of the most beautiful planes ever. Mk II Mk V Mk IX The late-war clipping-wing aircraft were horrible though. Edit: Note that the Mk IX picture I posted has had its cockpit modified post-war to have a passenger as well as the pilot for pleasure flying purposes.
I added an article on the zero fighter.
This thread is lacking some of these bad motherfuckers [IMG_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/46/P-51A.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Holy shit can you thumbnail that? I'm looking at it stretched across 2 1680 x 1050's and it's still fucking huge.
Holy shit can you thumbnail that? They look even worse if you see what the RAF did with them: :barf:
Propellers make everything sexier. This is a fact.
