I'm a mix of left wing pacifist and genocidal dictator.
Right wing libertarian to the bone. Minimum government, almost complete economic and personal freedom.
I don't understand how capitalism can give economic freedom.
Right wing libertarian to the bone. Minimum government, almost complete economic and personal freedom.
Implying that a small government has the capability to ensure that your rights are enforced, and that other people aren't infringing on it.
I don't understand how capitalism can give economic freedom.
What, are you drunk?.
Implying that a small government has the capability to ensure that your rights are enforced, and that other people aren't infringing on it.
That's the whole point of the small government: Defend you from cohertion mainly by providing police forces, courts of law where you can settle disputes and doing little more than that.
What, are you drunk?.
Socialists such as myself consider true economic freedom to be due to "free labor", where the masses have more of the wealth and freely receive the value of their labor, and see capitalist "economic freedom" as not being free at all- but rather the theft and control of the value of workers' labor by individuals who exert economic violence and total control over their wage workers. Essentially it's the view that capitalism is economic freedom like only property-owning-white-men being able to vote is democracy.
Seems I'm more authoritarian than the last time I did it, along with more left.
Leaning Left.
Far left, because the more that I learn about libertarianism the more I realize it's basically the "throw everyone into a pile and see who survives" approach to government. Absolutely no regulation and no attention to those in need. Essentially it's anarchism without the title of anarchism. Socialism is the way to go for me. Socialized medicine, progressive taxation, industrial regulation, and labor unionization are great. Although, I do strongly support net neutrality. I don't think the government can regulate something as large as the internet, because it isn't cost effective. Just a waste of time to try to monitor something that big.

I knew I would consider myself pretty far-left, but... There are some issues where I probably do disagree with the generic far-left "image" that people know, which is why I find this kind of political branding quite useless.
;36966758']That sounds more like social democracy, democratic socialism, or progressivism, all of which are left but not far-left.
Wow, I had never really heard much about social democracy or democratic socialism before. These are pretty spot-on with my beliefs, especially the tenets of social democracy. Very interesting stuff to read about, thank you!
I'm a liberal socialist, so I'm somewhere between left-leaning and left.
;36928722'] If you voted this then you are an idiot.
Fun fact: In the Classical Athens, the definition for an idiot was someone who didn't care for politics.
true north fuck magnetic north
I almost always end up very close to the centre on these things: I feel this ignores too many other issues, though, if it asked about gun/self-defence rights I'd probably be centre libertarian.
sounds like socialism to me
Oh, which one? I'm sure that you know that saying that "it sounds like socialism" is like saying that "it sounds like religion" without saying WHICH religion when there are major differences to the point where followers of "religion" and "socialism" both have killed each other over them rather than work together.
uh yeah i know all that i can just say "this music sounds like metal" rather than having to say "this music sounds like east columbian technical satanic thrash metal"
Well, actually, it's more like you're saying "This sounds like electronic music!" When trying to make the point that it sounds like dubstep, ignoring that fact that most of the other sub-genres of electronic music don't sound like dubstep at all.
Gentlemen, I had an idea today while painting some warhammer models: What if I were to create a video series that takes both of the political parties and shows how they are flawed? After thinking about it some more, I came up with a basic plot summary: A man, after being convinced by his friends and family, runs for president. Early in the race, after running as an independent, it is clear that he is not going to win, so he drops out. However, a candidate for one of the major parties likes his spirit, and asks him to run as his vice president. After the major party candidate wins the election, he gets assassinated, making the independent the president. The independent hires people from all over the political spectrum into his cabinet, so they can come up with a proposal to give to congress to help fix the nation (something I had planned was a liberal and a conservative get into an argument, both of them trying to get their own agendas into the plan, so the president fires them both on the spot!). The president, focusing on repairing the nation to pave the way for future presidents to make things right, takes all of the party agendas and all of the controversial issues, and tosses them out the window. This is because people will disagree on them, and will further split the nation. As his presidency goes on, he rises in popularity among all of the parties (and he becomes especially popular in the civilian populace). The series is still heavily, heavily, HEAVILY work in progress, but I have a tragedy planned at the end of the series that unites the nation. I am going to gather people from my college (and friends) to try to work on this. It is a long term goal, but it might end up being rather popular. My plan for it is to focus on patriotism and compromise, 2 things my nation seems to lack nowadays. :(
