Whats the difference between an auto revolver and a revolver? I dont understand.
Whats the difference between an auto revolver and a revolver? I dont understand.
Like Jagur explained,
A normal revolver, the cylinder rotates as you pull the trigger until the cylinder falls in line with the barrel, and the hammer strikes the firing pin and the gun fires. With an auto revolver, hammer strikes the firing pin, bullet goes down the barrel, and I assume it would have a gas system that rotates the cylinder for the next shot and cocks the hammer.

Speaking of auto-revolvers, here's a Webley-Fosbery:

British automatic revolver, recoil operated, when fired the cylinder, hammer, and barrel slam backward, and a pin on the frame slides through the groove in the cylinder, rotating it and cocking the hammer.
This system was also used as the base for the Pancor Jackhammer.
The Automag I and II are really cool, but the last 3 just look like someone was trying to describe a Hardballer over the phone and got lost halfway.
They might be better on the inside, but this is the cool guns thread so that no longer matters.
The last three look like they were meant to be dual wielded by some spunky female protagonist

Is your diamndback boring .357 semi automatic? hell no it ain't.
Actually, I think it was?
Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Am I the only one who absolutely hates Star Wars weaponry and finds it looking like melted toy guns?

i can only really tolerate the e11 blaster rifles, the rest looks ridiculous.
Webley-Fosbery's a pretty gun

erm, you're talking about the colt diamondback right? 100% certain it's not an autorevolver.
and starwars guns are rad as hell, the majority of them are based off actual guns (like the ones in my post!) so they don't have mass effect-syndrome where they just look like nerf guns. They still look silly but you get that with literally every sci-fi weapon.

imo star wars guns are pretty boring/bad because of that
imo star wars guns are pretty boring/bad because of that
couldn't disagree more. I'd rather them look like real "practical" weapons rather than nerf guns or toy guns that were bought from toys-r-us then spray painted.
Since we're on the topic of sci-fi guns, I just watched Firefly/Serenity for the first time.
Not quite sure what Mal's pistol is based off of, but damn does it look fine.

As for Vera...I'm not sure. It's a Saiga-12 that someone got a maybe just a tad bit carried away with the tacticool/greeble applicator. It has a chance of being a nice-looking gun without the ridiculous amount of shit on it and the even more ridiculous name.
[sp]Who in their right mind would come up with "Callahan Full-bore Auto-lock"?[/sp]

plus i enjoy seeing MG34 spew lasers

I'd rather see one spew bullets
I'd rather see one spew bullets
In my opinion bullets and lasers are equally rad. You know what really sucks though? Plasma. Man, fuck plasma.
plasma's for pussies
I think Plasma is cool as a greeble excuse ;~;
Some bad ideas...

That doesn't look awkward at all! Top loading four shot magazine that advanced upwards, DAO. Looks quite clumsy.

Proportions are definitely off.
Moving on to some crazy Chinese knockoff pistols from the 1930s!

This one has markings for both FN Herstal AND Mauser :v: While it's true FN was started in 1889 to manufacture Mauser rifles, there was never a design for a pistol like this one.

An underhammer pistol/rifle/carbine thing! It looks really awkward to hold though...

I don't know why, but I really dislike the Webley & Scott 1906 semiauto pistol. It just LOOKS cheap. Also reminds me of the following:
[t]http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server5100/7g4m0/products/24254/images/111427/de52429358db70fac45da15f81e21451__20873.1349194417.1280.1280.jpg[/t]
That's a Harrington & Richardson Self Loading Pistol from 1914. Maybe they were made in the same factory, they're nearly identical, except this one has a grip safety, and concealed hammer.
[t]http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server5100/7g4m0/products/24254/images/111426/219b091be3bddbdd52bb8b63c6d1c14f__64060.1349194416.1280.1280.jpg[/t]
Lastly, an oddity. A gun-truncheon. A trunchgun? A gruncheon? :v: Whatever it might be called, it's badass and I would NOT like to get walloped with it.

I always liked the idea of a pimp cane carbine...
Has this been done? Like with external magazines and shit
I'd rather see one spew bullets
imagine that you have this super advanced evil space empire capable of manufacturing hyperdrives, kilometre-long starships, planet-destroying space stations and shit, and then the super advanced evil empire's heavy weapons teams carry rusty ol' MG34s; lasers or not that's pretty badass
it's almost as cool as your basic everyday M2HBs routinely killing power armored 3 metre tall genhanced super soldiers in WH40k
Guys, what is this assault rifle called?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/5Sxrb9g.jpg[/t]
Is it a AK5?

Looks like the AK5c with a bayonet and some rail covers.
Yep, probably a guard at the Royal Castle here.

Wait, nevermind. Disregard my post completely :v:
I just don't like them. Maybe because they look like real guns, maybe because I always hated sci fi guns that shoot lasers, maybe because they have those lame scopes (imo) on them...
[t]http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110207054154/fallout/images/9/90/AER9LASERRIFLE.png[/t]
How's this for a laser rifle, then?
at least post Clint Eastwood with the automag

I read somewhere that the gun jammed so often during filming, Clint got pissed and chucked it off a pier, and as it was the only one they had, they had to get a scuba diver to go recover it
still looks rad though
that has to be the shittiest pose i've ever seen from a royal guard
are they seriously supposed to stand like that?
I just took a picture of a guard standing behind the castle. I have no idea how they're supposed to stand. Neither do I categorize it as a big deal.
