The original design using 10mm is on the right and was developed in 99, the later 9mm is on the left and was developed in 2010. The original model was demonstrated in a modified MP5/10 and competed against the MP7 and P90 with their 4.6 and 5.7 cartridges.

imo the wire stocks like that look incredibly flimsy and i wouldn't want one

they're actually not at all, I got a wire stock on my VZ that doesn't look as bad. It's actually very sturdy.
