him having an opinion doesn't make it less objectively wrong; it also doesn't help his case that (as far as I know!!) he really isn't basing his opinions on any evidence or experience. Unless he was a Royal Marine at some point, cause then I could understand because they've had a semiautomatic mentality drilled into them for a very long time.

If he's basing it on appearances it shouldn't matter. It shouldn't really matter anyways. He doesn't have to validate his preferences for you just because you say that automatic rifles are better. Even if he is objectively wrong, not everyone has to be right.

It's a Panzerkampfwagen (however it's spelt) V Panther medium tank, and the image was taken somewhere in Poland in 1945.
