Coolest/Ugliest Weapons V5 - Bullpup AKs are the best

Dunno, the magnets might mess that up. But it might also work.
the problem with rifled barrel is that the ammunition has to be ferrous, and steel doesn't engage rifling. the problem with rifled ammo is that the barrel would have to be made of a soft material and need to be replaced every few rounds.
stabilizing fins is really the only way to go with these things

Digging this way overpriced 700 VTR btw..

I am gonna fap to that barrel now
Of course, but I was more responding to foodstuffs, because he was curious about buying an AR-15 for hunting, but .223 isn't exactly the best round for that.
I wasn't curious about buying an ar for hunting. I was curious if its legal to hunt with them.
As I said before when I start up going hunting I'm going to probably use a high power bolt action

And I dunno what other people's lexicons are but bin laden mag has generally always referred to any high cap banana mag in my experience
Coach guns are pretty badass
Old West, Tacticool or just hunting, the idea of Two barrels firing 2 12gauge shells at once is cool to me
holy shit that triangular barrel <3

Triangular barrel seems like it would be inefficient, is there any actual advantage too it or is it just justification for a massive price mark up?

i don't know about inefficient
pointless, maybe, but why inefficient?
inefficient because the massive boner it gives you would throw off your aim
This gun is really hard to aim with such a massive throbbing erection
But that's just the monopod.

thickness of the barrel is inconsistent so it probably won't heat evenly when you start throwing rounds down range. Not sure if that'll have a great effect but it seems like it would just be more efficient overall to have a round barrel.
My father actually picked up a VTR for about $600 from Dicks because for whatever reason they couldn't sell it and marked it down a shitload.
I shoot it regularly and it's a fantastic rifle. Very accurate and for whatever magical reason the triangular barrel works great for heat dissipation.
It's a great rifle and while I find it to be somewhat unattractive I would have no hesitation dropping $800 - $900 for it because getting a decent grouping at 700 yards with a .308 is damn fine.
that triangular barrel is just really expensive fluting
that triangular barrel is just really expensive fluting
Looks real sexy though.
HUE HUE COCK AND BALLS IM LIKE 5
Seriously, I don't know how your cock and balls look like.. but yeah.
Here's an "Engineers perspective on the 700 vtr's triangular barrel"
I am a professional structural engineer. In 1977, I was granted a patent on a structural system that uses triangular cross-section members with a circular cross-section hole down the middle. Remington’s VTR barrel is identical to that shape. The objective of this shape is to maximize structural force transmission with a minimum of mass.
[t]http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/700-vtr-muzzlebreak-1-tm.jpg[/t]
During development of the concept, I established that the triangular cross-section provides the maximum surface area for a given enclosed volume. This accounts for the Remington heat dissipation claim/feature. Removing the mass along the central axis leaves the mass in the three corners at a maximum distance from the central axis. This maximizes the axial compression rigidity and the torsional rigidity, also a Remington claim/feature. The torsional rigidity promotes stability under the influence of the rifling twist, a special benefit in a rifle barrel. Flexural stiffness is optimal for downward bending of the muzzle end in the orientation Remington uses in the stock; one corner up and two corners down. That puts the top corner in tension and the bottom corners in compression, where buckling concerns reduce the allowable load-carrying capacity.
[t]http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/picture-4-26.png[/t]
All this techno-mumb-jumbo counts for doodly, unless the holes in the target get chummy and cuddle up together. As with all accuracy discussions, the teamwork between barrel, bedding, and ammo gives a unique performance result. This must be where Remington spent its advertised years in development.
Obviously, the manufacturer cannot control the customer’s choice of rounds, so they have to shoot for a statistical middle, so to speak. But the bedding is another story. Remington advertises a multi-point mount, not free-floating or glass bedding. This would be crucial for taming the harmonics in concert with the unique tension-vs-compression qualities of the barrel shape.
Theoretically, this barrel should be better than round, but the industrial wisdom and inertia is all compiled for round. Some tuning is required.

That's what I thought when I first glanced upon it really, people shouldn't throw concepts like these away so soon.

Someone actually paid two fucking grand for a worn out pair of mechanics gloves and fucking picture frame.
I hope they're sterile.

Well the maybe he shouldn't have been using 30-06 as his sons first full sized rifle round???? His sons' only prior experience with firearms was .22lr. Going from a round that you'll commonly find between the cushions of your couch to a round that can be used as currency in many small countries is full retard.
